I have a cab lab rat 150cmX36 or 38 for 'rough and higher wind conditions'..I know it's old school but i find it's a great board for hard chop and cross swells. Being the only kiter it's hard to get ideas if I should get rid of it and upgrade. Am roughly 170lbs. and ride mostly 12mtr. on 12-18kts and if lite 8-12 i ride the switch 144 and a cab 14mtr.
I try to do speed runs on it and logic tells me the longer the board the lesser it would pearl in case a swell comes on to the path. Any ideas in size for the next board for the lab rat in size right now looking at mags i think the ideal would be 130-135 x 38-43 but am just guessing

I'd say definitely time for an upgrade.
There are lots of latest model boards available now which are very user requirement specific. Believe me - we've had the spiel from all the gurus over the last few weeks.
Sounds like you are heading down the right path with latest versions of shorter/wider options. Defo the new-age WTG.
We are currently looking at Nobile Shinn & Xenon (and a few others) as the premium options amongst the specialist quality boards on offer. Check out those guys sites.

thanks puppet..the question is right now which brand that's just average in price and has the same aspects of the better ones for pop and jump? am just a cruiser and freerider..with all the gadzillion brands there should be a thousand that's just good enough..I don't need to impress anybody anyways they wouldn't know what's good and what's chic here on the island

what do you mean by 135/6 RPM? my smallest which was lent to me is a protoy 120 good for really windy days but lots of spray on the eyes and I have to return this by next week..am guessing again for our conditions 8-25 with chop and swells increasing as the wind gets stronger would be a 130 X 40? +/- 2cm on both..I weigh 68-70kls and I can say advanced but no basic switch stance just all out 'i don't care bump and jump and boost' attitude..one more thing what defines a 'pop'
