Thanks to westozwind who posted this in the windsurfing forum .. different route to Kitestock this year...

---

The final stretch of the new Indian Ocean drive will be officially opened this weekend. :)

The new road between Lancelin and Cervantes means there will be an uninterrupted sealed coastal route from Perth to Dongara and coastal communities further north.

The Transport Minister says the state-funded $95-million project has been delivered under budget and nine months ahead of schedule.

It's the first major project to be built under Main Roads direct management in the last 10 years.

The new coastal route will allow tourists and other light vehicles to avoid the heavy freight traffic on the Brand Highway.

It will be pretty much the same route to Kitestock for me again this year, I just won't have to put it into 4wd as often.

True.Im talking generally about other spots around auz.
I hate that some of the spots I use to surf that you had to drive through the

bush on a bumpy dirt tracks, get bogged a few times, mates push you out,2 hours to

get there, only a couple of others in the water that were keen enough to battle to

get to the spot. Now its a sealed road the whole way, heaps of crowds and costs

$7 national park fee to surf there to cover the cost of the road.

Maybe Im just greedy and want it all to myself, but , sometimes the adventure of getting there is half the fun.

^^^ how altruistic of them! A $95 million project purely to benefit the tourist drivers.

The sceptic in me says that this was not their real agenda. So whose agenda are they serving,,, couldn't be the developers could it?
