On either Thursday or Friday a guy went past me at Leighton, WA riding a hydrofoil.
The wind was decent 20-25knots and plenty of rollers and chop out there.
This guy must have easily been doing 40knots of board speed, I have never seen someone go so fast in my life.
I thought hydrofoils were just for the on the river, but jesus, this bloke could have gone to rotto and back in the time it takes me to do my normal 2 tacks. Bloody impressive.

Was he on an ozone edge?

I always see this bloke riding around in a huge Edge at Melville or Point Walter.

Usually he's on a 17 or 19m by the looks of it while everyone else is on a 10 or 12m. Crazy stuff.

Last time I saw him was at Melville and I swear he must have been going about 30 knots almost directly upwind. No joke, the wind was cross on-shore and this bloke was riding parallel with the beach against the wind on a hydro. Unbelivable stuff

I thought hydrofoils were just for the absolute pillow-biters on the river, but jesus, this bloke could have gone to rotto and back in the time it takes me to do my normal 2 tacks. Bloody impressive.
