Hey, we kited Hells Gates the other week after we popped in and spoke to ya.
It was just a section of reef with whitewash. No throwing lips or anything...
Left feeling a little sad. Is it usually a gnarly wave?

The swell had yet to pick up when I saw you, the more hollow waves are further upwind on the reef, also much bigger where I sailed from that day, no crowds out there when we do get a decent swell & its channel busting the north end of hells is a very scary place to be even for seasoned slayers, typically end of the season between fronts is the pick of the bunch,

Gero is great but wish the wind would calm down a bit, well over this 30-35knots, bring on mid 20's and thumping sets

Hahaa, was that you with the little Best?
I was wondering what it was like up where you came from, saw you up there for a bit.

My post was pretty much tongue in cheek.
I just haven't seen any waves with reef or something to block the chop.
When it's 30kn and the wind is blowing over water the waves become pretty choppy and washy.
I guess thats why most use straps over there... Is it?

Yeah that was me flying solo. There are places where its butter on the inside and less mushy but I won't divulge here. Lots of kiters in town come from windsurfing stock hence the straps, I used to be that way but saw the light, these days I prefer switch strapless and unhooked
