Are any of the crew who were on the downwinder from Hastings Point to Wooyung last Sunday (18/10) out there? I'm fairly new to the area and I've been kitesurfing solo at Wooyung and Pottsville. Be great to meet some of the locals and hook up for downwinders when they're happening. Would love to hear from you.

Hi Harley, I'm on the goldy but kite down that way fairly regularly....there are a few friendly crew that kite on the north side of the Hastings river mouth, so maybe give them a shout....u will find a half dozen or so hardcore guys that dw from the goldy to Byron occasionally....

Northerlies this weekend so I'll be at caba or kingy....give us a shout if ur around....yeeeooOoow!!

Hey Gilly, thanks for the reply and the info. I'm staying in Brisbane this weekend having snagged a ticket to the AFL GF (GO TIGES!!!) - will try to get out at Sandgate on the Saturday i reckon. But i'll definitely give you a shout next time I'm around and the forecast is favourable for the Tweed Coast. Preash...

I can second the comments on the kiters at Hastings Point. I'm only there a few times each year but they have always been welcoming to me.

On the subject of other kitable spots in the area, I am struggling to find a better spot for some cross-shore wave riding. Hastings point has an annoying wind shadow from the headland.

Was thinking Pottsville but it's a slightly further drive from my in-laws.
