Hi. With lots more foiling I'm spending heaps more time on toeside. Current harness Mystic click bar 3, with fixed hook, is great but needs adjusting after each transition. Any tips? Thinking of:
- going loose around the waste so the whole harness rotates
-modifying to change hook to rope. This will mean cutting metal
-add a rope over the hook? So you'd have both attachments??
Thanks in advance

I've been using the Dakine C1 with a Dynabar slider and it's good but then I saw a Mystic Stealth with rope bar and that's it, C1's for sale cheap!

Any harness with a rope slider will help a lot. Try a few different ones if you can. I tried the Ride Engine and have never gone back, 5 years now and would not go back to a harness that didn't have a hard shell. Every body is different so it helps to spend some time in a shop trying them all.

Every body have there preferences but for me I need the hook to travel all way to my side/ back were the rope harness Is to restrictive so I go for harness with no rubber in side and have it loose/ tight just enough to move around my hip I have sold a
number Manera Eclipse Melb foilers and wave guys which are happy Also have used Ion Riot soft inside Also your body shape need to be reasonable trim otherwise the rope harness is the way to go

People used to wear a lycra rashie over the wetsuit to make it more slippery.

Before I went to a rope slider I went with the loose harness as well. Only problem was the massive chafing after several straight days of 4 hour sessions. If you are wearing a wetsuit with lycra over that you would only wear out the shirt and not the wettie.

Hate having a loose harness, specially with the foil where it will ride up when flying the kite high. Have been using a Dakine Pyro with a Dynabar fitted with a metal slider bar, always consistent, never stretches and never wears out. I have been using the same Dynabar spreader for years, it has a dent in the centre point wear the hook sits nicely when on a twin tip, there is a version without the dent. Surprised more people don't use this option

+1 for ride engine (have separate hook and rope slider)
+1 for dynabar (will fit most harnesses except above)
all waist harnesses will ride up so get used to pushing it down every now and then
once you get used to a rope slider you'll never go back to a hook

If you want to save money, you can add a rope (or two) over the hook, provided you have somewhere to attach it at both ends of your spreader. Just need some thickish dyneema, 5 or 6mm and a low friction ring, Ronstan or similar. If you use proper boating knots it's not as dodgy as it sounds.
