As someone who is still fairly new to kiting I still spend time doing the walk of shame.

After a while my harness creeps up and I'm wearing it under my armpits which is giving me a sore back.

I have one of those orange Pat Love harnesses.

I do it up as tight as I can but it still rides up.

Does anyone else have this issue and does anyone recommend another harness?

cheers

Can't go past a mystic warrior 3. Super comfortable and has several adjustments to help the issue your having.

wouldnt worry about it too much. Everyone whilst learning has this problem.. goes away instantly once you stop your walks of shame

get the kite lower when doing the walk of shame. see how close to the ground you can hold it!.... obviously don't piss off other beach users with super low kite action.... but the reason its riding up is because you have the kite high all the time.

ps + 1 for mystic warrior harness!!

What is your waist circumference? In most cases as a beginner you have bought a harness that is one size too big. They fit nice in the shop, but a new harness must just fit. You need to suck your guts in just to do the straps up. As all the rubber compresses after about 5 sessions, the inside diameter of a harness increases by about 5-10cm depending on the padding.

Thanks guys.

I'll try a couple of the things suggested in the next few days and if nothing works will look into a new harness.

Have a great weekend kiting!!

Cheers

Typcially harness ride up is due to putting it on when it is dry, then it having some movement once it hits the water - kind of like a wetsuit,

usually I will launch my kite with the belts as tight as they can get in the dry, then i'll re-adjust once ive been riding for 5-10 mins (stop riding, put kite in water, bar out, adjust the belts and push down aound your hips again)

Next time you get in the water to launch after doing 'the walk', once you have the board on your feet, keep the kite above you, just lay back for a second, reach around with your free hand and push your harness down - I grab the handle chord to do this, the kite pressure will assist.

Works for me.

I used a Dakine seat harness when learning. It can't ride up due to the leg loops, and is otherwise good for kiting, except riding toeside.

I do the exact opposite

Keep your harness fully lose, obviously, it can ride up more easily but it becomes so easy to place it back down by simply lowering the kite for 2 second and doing a quick adjust.

This also allows the harness to spin around when you ride in switch stance and makes it overall soooo much more comfortable

Try it and let us know your thoughts

Yup, not too tight is the key, then if it does slip up it's easy to push back down....
