Gusting by the second from 25 to 30+ in Perth today. For all those asking "what kite" I suggest sitting back today and watching. It gets pretty obvious which brands and models run smooth in these conditions.
The smoother they travel today = the smoother they travel on regular days.

I was fully trimmed/depowered on a 7m reo today and was really surprised how well it handled the gusts and was still stable during turns (85kgs on a standard sb). Only a quick session though as I felt I was dicing with danger a little bit at my skill level.

We got hit pretty hard out on the water today in Vic. 20 up to 55. Out on an 8m pivot. It was a bit up and down all arvo but that spike hit hard.

On my 7 today, guess it was a little gusty but nothing that wasn't still fun. Looked like it was in the high 20's around Leighton today.

Bought my 7 for days like this, did see a few people whose kites looked like a bit of a handful.

But I do agree you should respect the limits of your kites and skills, whatever they may be.

Between 25 to 35 knots we use 6m or 5m kites in The Netherlands in order to ride the waves - and we do have strong currents !

I agree with Austin. A good 35 knots certainly does sort the men from the boys!!!......
Thins the crowd dramatically. You can tell the hardcore crew by the look in their eyes on those days. The crazy buggars have that look in their eye of excitement, adrenaline "I gota get out there NOW" look. The others look like a deer in the headlights. You can see the fear in the whites of their eyes!.

But with high depower small kites these days i'm seeing more normal blokes hitting conditions up to 35 knots.

Want to thin the crowd down to the silliest of the hardcore farkers then look for 40+ knots. Only a select few experieneced maniacs will take that on...
