You downloaded the firmware - but didn't install it on the camera, you need to hold down different buttons at different times to install it - watch the whole install movie on the Gopro Website.

At last sucess I had to reload the firmware which as before the camera did what I thought it was supposed to do! Showed on the screen UP for upload then shut down. I watched the video again and it is supposed to show the UP and the front LED must flash whilst uploading mine didnot the first two times Third time lucky I did the upload sequence and this time it showed UP for upload and the RED Led flased whilst uploading
Tis was frustrating but now it works great
