Whats the best option for a kite housing of your GoPro.
How can u be sure of the angle?
How can u be sure its secure.
Are line attachments a better option?
All suggestions welcome & sorry if its been covered before.

Any one tried the wifi yet. ??
Is it successful in tuning in and out & changing modes while ur riding?

Hoping to capture some croc action when they are used as a ramp on the crossing. ;-(

Surfboard mount on the front of board: use the sticky pad (ive never had issues) or the fcs plug. good for getting the rider in view but cant see much else.

kiteline mount:
video is very shaky but photos can be good. This would be really good with the new wifi backpack option to take photos by the click of a button.
depending on the centre lines set up, the more yuo get in view. (i used cabrinha, the centre lines split off about 5m up i think)

or the helmet mount (teletubby) works good for getting all of it in from a riders perspective.

I have snagged a steering line on the line mount once when i had to loop the kite. although i could still steer the kite good enough to get back to the beach. you can get them from kitepower im pretty sure $50

You can easily convert the head strap that comes with the Gopro into a kite mount if you want to. Just goggle YouTube for a 'how to' video.

there are plenty of gopro's on the ocean floor taking pictures of Fish. Make sure you teather it well. Also limit mounts with lots of vibration. eg board mounts. Gopro housing likes to break with a high vibration load. I've done 2 mounts so far vibration damage.

You will want a big memory card and spare batteries for the crossing.
From memory one 32gig card will last about 2 and half battery (this was prior to a HD model though)

Probly best to coordinate with the others and have different cameras in different locations so everyone gets a bit of everything and edit into one movie.

Do a test in both video and various still modes to see how long you get out of a battery from the different settings.

Wifi and LCD will suck battery life so remove these for the trip to conserve battery unless you have a way of charging every night.

Yep carpark 14 about a month or so ago. I wanted to test the kite mount out before heading overseas on a trip, pretty happy with the results but will be better when I get the Wifi kit and can time the photos better

Thats exactly the sort of angle Im looking for - with camera security built in.
(dont want to loose my new camera)
The board mount info good too but not what Im after for the crossing.

Hey Phil, as you know, I use a differant brand of camera, but the board mount may give you some ideas, I dont think any of the standard Go Pro board mounts will with stand some decent waves hitting it. You have to give the camera body some protection from the impact.
A lot of guys make their own stuff when it comes to action cams

I remember the mount holding up well - shame the board didn't.....

Yeah good thing I have straps, kept the 2 pieces together on the long walk back to the car park
