Today I checked my kite and noticed that one of the bridle attachment points is fraying quite badly (refer to picture). I have no idea why only one is fraying while the others are ok. Is this an urgent issue? If yes, how do I go about fixing it?

The Kite is a 2013 Slingshot RPM if that helps.

I've no idea how to resolve that but for sure I'll be checking the bridle points on my kite next time I pump up. I must admit I've never really looked... Thanks.

Yeah it definitely caught me off guard when I saw it. The kite isn't very old and hasn't had a huge amount of use.

You could probably super glue the frayed bit where it has been rubbing on the LE
a kite repairer wouls stitch a new on in for you

just undo the bridle then reattach the pigtail around rather than through the hoop to share the load with the other side of the hoop, might be a bit late for this advice coz that pigtail has clearly been pulling on just one side of that loop for quite a while.

I had the exact same problem with my kite and it was causing my kite to fly a bit lopsided i took it to Neil at hold the line kites and he reinforced it with a nice patch and it flys like new again

I e-mailed Neil and he said:
"Can do……. Fiddly… will need to open up leading edge and put new attachment point in."No idea what that would cost, but I will consider it. First going to check the kite for any other places that are wearing out Psychojoe, if I reattach the pigtail around the loop, what will stop it from slipping off?

I had the same issue with a Slingshot rally. 2011 from memory. Must be a slingy issue. Had to get it sent away to get it repaired. Didn't cost a whole heap. Wouldnt want it to let go while riding.

Its hard to see from the pic how badly the loop in the leading edge is frayed.

Can you notice any strands of the loop that have snapped? Specifically the ones that run the length of the loop (not across it).

Does it look frayed where it enters the leading edge of the kite?

If you cant notice heaps of broken strands id attempt to repair it myself by first removing the bridle pigtail, then getting some sailmakers twine and wrapping it tightly around the loop (effectively giving the loop some protection and stop it unravelling further). then reattach the bridle pigtail making sure it sits in the middle of the loop so pulls evenly on both ends of the loop.

If it looks frayed inside the leading edge too id get it professionally repaired.

Hi Steve,Thanks for this great advice. Where could I find some sailmakers twine that is thin enough for a job like this? Jesper's store seems to only have pieces which are too thick.

Hey guys, just an update. I decided to just wrap some fishing line around the bridle attachment point and call it a day. Here's pretty much what it looks like (I trimmed the excess pieces off later). I've been out 3 times with this repair and it's still holding strong so I'm going to hold off repairing it for as long as possible. Cheers.
