Thinking of booking a family holiday to Fiji. They will do family stuff. I'll spend all day on the water before returning to the resort and drinking anything that comes in a coconut with a little umbrella and a bendy straw.

Mid price range, close to a flat water location with good launch spot, kids club, possibly close to suva?

If you have had any good experiences please drop me the names.

Close to Suva?????

I took the family to Mana Island.

It was a good spot for the family and had south and north facing beaches so you could kite 360 Deg wind angle. Also the family could hide on the other side of the island and avoid the wind if need be.

I don't think its in the perfect spot to grab the most of the trade winds. But it suited my needs of family fun and then a bit of kiting on the side. If I did it again I'd take the foil and blast between islands with the family chasing me in a boat.

My Vanuatu 21night holiday was (8g) half the price of my 20 night Fiji holiday for two people with airfares. Have no children, I think Fiji seems more family friendly but at a price!

Wind was south to east @ 10-18 knots in Vanuatu 11 till 5pm windy.com showed Fiji had similar.

wind in Fiji was south to south east 14-18knots almost everyday- 3 days of 25-30 south east to north east. Was checking windy.com for Vanuatu and it was cranking!

will go back to Vanuatu, for solo surf and kite sessions.

Where were you kiting in Vanuatu?

Adventure Sports in Noosa are hosting a kite trip to Fiji at the end of July, I believe they have been there before so know the area. George and Fiona have always been super helpful with advice and information, maybe look up the shop number and give them a call.

I actually stayed at that resort (Tavarua) and the "yank owner" is a kiter so we kited with him a few times, but the wind direction and location means its easier to kite out the front of the resort (on the break they call "restaurants"). To kite over to cloudbreak would be a bit of a mission, as would doing a launch over there, unless you are ok with boat launching. Cloudbreak itself is now open to anyone and as a result does get a decent crowd there but you might get a decent go at it if its blown out. I know Ben Wilson kites there quite a bit and stays on the "aussie island" Namotu and he does have a kite camp every year which looks awesome. They provide launching and boat support and Ben teaches wave kiting etc. They also kite the break called "Wilkes" which is a big shifty long right hand reef break and I think they also kite the breaks right outside Namotu. I really enjoyed kiting around "restaurants" but you could easily get washed away if you had a problem and also the coral is pretty brutal - i broke a toe and there is fire coral too. But yeah good wind, amazing place and great surf. Bula!
