I will be travelling from Darwin to Perth through June / July. So I am interested to hear replies to your question and about wind in the NW in winter generally.
I've only picked up one quote from archives.

We got two days of wind last august but the year before was more like 20. August to october can be a little hit and miss with the wind but on average your kiting more days than not and there's swell. By november the all you need is a 6 and 8m but the swell becomes very patchy. But then april is our calmest month and the last 3 days have been 10m weather.

August can have any thing from a light 12-15kn seabreeze to 25kn southerly trades.So bring kites from 8-12m a twintip, surfboard and your fishing gear just in case.
And on another note DEC (department environment & conservation) controls much of the coast around here so don't give them a reason to ban us. There pet hate at the moment is people kiting in snorkling areas (turquoise bay mainly).So even though it may not look busy to you there are hundreds of other spots where you can kite without pissing them off.
