Hi,

Has anyone got Entity Foot Straps? I don't know if this is a known issue (maybe warranty) but the anchor points/base plate have become brittle and snapped, where the screw threads. I have managed to repair them using a heap of epoxy resin but will have to replace them soon.

Has anyone else experienced this, is it a warranty issue??

I got a different brand but I got mine on warranty (it was within the 12 month warranty period)

The early (2010-11 or thereabouts ) Cabrhina syncs suffered a similar fate.......however They changed the material the following year.
And I don't want to be a negative Nancy but I would be very surprised if that repair lasts a whole session which is not a reflection of the repair itself but the forces generated in that area

Cheers, Harry Potter (never typed that before). The photographs don't show it but the base plastic has micro cracking throughout, wont be long before they give way completely, even with my temp repair. Time for some new straps I think!.. Shame as I like the Entity's, but wont be buying them again...

Sent the photographs to "North" asking if this is a known issue... No response as of yet..

For the time being, this wont stop me hitting the water...

I was out yesterday, and every single board on the beach had Naish Apex pads on it.
They're just that good

I hope this is not just another anonymous brand bashing from some faceless fake log in


Pommybones if you are for real you have to forgive me for being sceptical here as it wouldn't be the first time that someone has created a log in name just so they could post misleading crap about competing brands. You have only just created your SB account and this is your first post here so it does kind a look a bit suspicious.

If you are for real What year are those pads? to me they look like 2011 pads so WAY out of the warranty. You have to be realistic things don't last for ever! Have you tried taking it back to your retailer? Normally when you buy something that has a warranty and there is an issue with it you should take it back to where you purchased it from and the retailer chases up the warranty. Its a bit like buying a TV from JB HIFI and then when you get it home and it blows up you wouldn't go contacting Sony or Phillips would you?

Also to go throwing stones at North before they have even had a chance to give you a reply is a bit rich.



However if you are for real then i feel your pain (cos this is the worst time of year to be kept out of the water) so come and see me in Mandurah at WA Surf and i'll rustle up a set of pads from home that you can have for free (they might be second hand but they will still be in good condition.)

Poor material choice for base. (Looks like some type of plastic.)

The recessed slotted hole instantly halves the thickness and strength of material at the point of load.

Designed for failure when operator over-torques screwhead.

Why even have a 'recessed' slot ?

Allow the screw (with larger diameter washer) to sit proudly on top of the base plate for max thickness of material.

Its ok to be sceptical I guess, as I am new! But my understanding of a forum is the share this sort of info?

I assure you, this is not a "faceless fake log in", with a profile like "pommybones" I thought this would be obvious?

like I said I like the Entity pads, but none the less, they did break!. I know things don't last forever but seams a poor design as per "waveslave" comment. Someone mentioned to me, their may have been a warranty issue with these pads, of this year, (you are right btw..2011) that was the reason for my post...Was looking to see if anyone else had experienced the same, not slag off North - I ride North Kites, bar/lines & board and love them

My repair is holding on for now but should I come un-stuck (literally) a mate has offered some spare pads already, but thanks for the offer appreciate it..

If I am ever up in Mandurah, I will come say Hi!..

the pads and straps are 2013 so a couple of years old and out of warranty, we have an old set of 2012 bases that should fit your existing straps.
Just drop your broken bases into us in Balcatta and we'll try to help you out.
The bases were super strong and since they introduced them in 2012 we have probably sold about 250-300 boards and never had a warranty issue with any of them.
The most issues we get with broken foot pads are from uv, impact damage or abrasion from riders not rinsing their boards so that the sand literally wears them away, like sandpaper

Yeah..... They're nice pads..... But does anybody else find them small?
Maybe I just have big feet??
I have tried adjusting them every which way, including removing bindings from board and trying different attachments points....... But they just seem so small. I crash a bit too much, and due to ankle problems I like to run my straps a bit loose, just so I can bail easily if need be, but these bad boys are just impossible to set up loose!
Seriosly, any body else think they are too small?
Or advice?
