Anyone nabbed one of the ECS boards off eBay? Interested to hear how they go, as I need to replace my new Bufo Hydroflex that only lasted 3 kites.

The boards seem really cheap at $425, I wonder if this means they are "cheap"??? Any idea if they will stand up to the abuse of kiting?

So does anyone have any feedback? Good or bad...

they are probably the boards coming in from China if they are not the Qld guys

Yes Ive had the ECS Flyer - ECS Boards pin tail- the board was really strong. It appeared to be very solid in the glassing not what you might expect from a board made overseas.. china. It paddled really well, and duckdived good as well. I managed to duck dive alot deeper and easier on this board than on on my al merrick tuflite 6'3. Maybe because the board had a tab more strength in it.The rails were low so they had a bit of bite, good for down the line speed turns.

The bought the first version of the this board, the designer told me he has since modified the board to feel more lighter, but I couldnt imagine it being less strong.

I sold it , because I really wanted his pod 5'10 rounded tail, (I knew i could sell the flyer easy cause it was so cheap in the first place). I bought the 5'10 version polyurene, It goes unreal probably the best board for gereral conditions, easy to catch waves- low rails which makes it great for late take offs and and holding in fast sections.Even in good surf. Ive had boards from china before.(- the HB board simliar to this shape and it had really bad glassing, the deck tail delaminated after 4 surfs) So I wasnt expecting alot- however I was suprised to find the ECS pod I is great- Ive surfed nearly everyday and there are no folding on the deck-
I spoke to the ECS owner his name is Ryan he said the difference is they use all materials from australia- "australian surfbanks' including glassing everything

ECS has probably proven that boards from china can still be good if they use australian materials

I'm guessing Jandalbroz is either a very happy customer (eager to spread the word of ECS), or he is the owner Ryan.

Just seems odd to have a brand new member sign up to the forums on the same day making two posts on how good the boards are.

nah - i just bought the ecs 6"4 flyer and so far so good , beautiful pintail which i love- some slight deck impressions which is normal , but i cant really fault it build wise ,I mean the glassing is pretty much faultless to my eyes and is as good (dare i say better) than the finish on my last board from my local shaper but its early days - i will keep you posted.....
As for how it surfs , i've only had about 6 surfs on it in waves of varying quality , but i'm excited to surf it , it feels good .
I havent surfed it as a quad , only a thruster (fcs K-3's) , but its a keeper for sure.
I met Ryan when i picked it up , seemed lke a good bloke....

Hey guys, its Ryan from ecs boards. A couple of customers brought my attention to this forum and the discussion about our boards. Firstly I'll start by saying am I in no way advertising our boards in this forum i would just like the opportunity to provide some further info and some independent contacts for the original post by surfingboye. It's great to see some discussion on our boards and we welcome and feedback both positive and negative.

Basically we have been in the industry since 2005 and constantly evolving and growing. Our aim from the beginning and always will be is to provide quality products at reasonable prices. All our boards are constructed from the highest quality Australian and US materials.

We started distributing our boards online (and continue to do so) but have expanded as our reputation for quality grew and now distribute also through a number of retailers.

The boards surfingboye were enquiring about are constructed out of high density US EPS foam then inlayed with a thin layer of bamboo both top and bottom and then glassed. The board has carbon fibre rails providing added strength and flex.

I have attached a couple of pics of one of our riders ripping up on a 5'10 fibre flex so you can see how they perform.

What sort of glassing schedule is used on your boards?
Would you say the are similar strength to standard PU?
Would the hold up to the abuse of kiting?
