...but do people wear socks with their kite boots?

And if so what? Neoprene socks or waterproof hiking socks, or just plain socks, etc?

That's a great question and commonly asked by the kiting community. I'd suggest thin Australian wool socks if you were to wear socks under your booties this way in the off chance you get moisture in them you will stay warm. I'd recommend applying a thin layer of vasoline over the entire sock prior to putting booot on to reduce friction and increase comfort and waterproofing.
Also a lot of kiters want that extra cool factor just in case someone might be watching and wear their socks on the outside of their booties. If you go this option I recommend knee high bright coloured socks possible with stripes or poker dots. I'd even recommend high viz socks from your local safety shop in case you lose a sock and want to snorkel for it later and will help grab the attention of the nearby beach goers. It is possible to wear two pairs of socks (under and over bootie). I'd recommend getting your socks from Target they have a good range and pack of 5 sale for $20 bucks.
WARNING: do not where odd socks as this may affect balance speed and coolness.
Dont wear Collingwood fc socks they make you instantly kite like s hit and people will drop in on you and not land your kite.
Dont wear "pink socks" unless you want to attract Poleys too your local

Never tried it. Never even thought of trying it.

But. I do wear a polypro thermal top under my wetsuit and it definitely increases the warmth.

Give it a go and tell us how it works out.

I normally wear a sock as a peter heater, but could be a bit weird wearing the socks home if ihad to do a piss in my wetsuit. Woolies would probs retain it.

So technical the fashion in kitesurfing, im struggling to keep up with the pace

Yes and No

it really depends on the boots your wearing, When im wearing Hyperlite Boots i always wear socks cause i can chuck em on as im leaving the car and it feels much better keeps the sand down and is awesome in the bitterly cold winter sessions IMO. but if im using my LFKs its a bit of a pain trying to get socks on while flying a kite and putting the board on your feet.
