I also once kitesurfed behind a boat in Fiji, not realising they were game fishing. I got caught in the line with a giant lure ripping through my shorts and hooks embedded in my harness. It didn't end there. I got dragged behind the boat and had to ditch my kite. Then, to get back to the island I had started from, I had to swim after the kite, find the bar, relaunch it (not easy once you've disconnected!) and sail back upwind with a 20 cm lure hanging from my harness. I was lucky.

Is there a link to that AFR story that isn't paywalled?

If I had to guess, they would be up around 3000+ boards sold. It took them about I think 10 months or so for their first 1000 which was about a year ago when I bought my Series 1 and they have since upscaled their production facility in Byron

It might not be the market for the majority of the users on this forum, but really if you're interested in eFoils look into the issues with Waydoo and other cheaper brands, and you can see although admittedly Flite and Lift are most definitely super expensive, they are a premium product with good warranties and both have made improvement with their latest versions

Keahi was always involved with the brand and they have new team riders like Adam Bennetts and Matt Wilkinson and addressed a lot of criticisms from more experienced foilers such as their first limited range of wings, smaller boards, free spinning props etc for better performance

i live in the area and talking to a guy who knows the fliteboard crew and reckons theyre selling around 160 per month so seems like theyre doing pretty well to me

If the wind is strong enough to kitesurf, and you ditch your kite....could Michael Klim or Kieran Perkins even catch it with a harness on?

haha, i kited around the pumping jetty at the spit on the GC and got wrapped in fisherman's lines. Managed to get line off before hook though. I stay a little wider now
