Left it late but looking to arrange a trip up to DIP over xmas. Can't seem to find anything for booking a camping permit online though? Also need to hire a 4wd... Can someone point me in the right direction please!

Also any other advice would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

camping permits
https://www.epa.qld.gov.au/parks/iaparks/gds/IAGDS050.jsp?quickParkId=797

But you also now need a car permit, so make sure when you hire a car it comes with one.

Thanks for that

Thanks exactly what i wanted to know! Wasn't sure how far North i could camp. Bit worried about driving up though. Havent done any 4wd before and have seen a few vids of people bogged up there. NE and Easterly would still work wouldn't they? Thanks again!

not easterly anything north works . easterly is stuffed up buy the land very shelted in an easterly it all good if it is an easterly go back to teewah side and you have cross on to onshore for the surf . Drive on the low tide with caution for the water crossings you will not put it in 4wd at all but if you go at high tide that is a pain , flat throttle low range 2nd or 3rd gear doing 20kph sand bashing takes forever . if you go to rainbow do ONLY ON OUT GOING TIDE NEAR LOW TIDE . The rock crossing is a 4x4 grave yard and are very high at moment from a lot of sand eroshion .

if you get stuck in soft sand, stop spinning the wheels, put it in low range, now back it up, if you cant reverse straight out rock fowards and back untill you make it, change gears quick when your doing this so you keep the rocking motion going.
you will get out of 90% of the sand on teerwah doing this if you have a decent 4wd. as afore mentioned the rocks before rainbow are sketchy so your better off going down the track.

to be honest its not that bad and the soft stuff is fine if you have tracks to follow, which chances are you will cause it gets packed out. dont kane the engine ust go slow and plough on in low range.

Yeah, plenty of crew from Noosa get up there when its working...personally i would not bother unless it was forecast for 20-30 NW. If your new to the area & want some advise etc, get in touch with George from kitesurfaustralia he,s always up there.
