Just looking for any tips with the crossbow2 - it worked fine the first 10 times but now it's not pulling properly, is there a best way to shorten the lines that go to the bar? I don't think yanking on the strap to it's maximum is really doing muchMaybe the strap is slipping

dude... If its slipping it's getting more powered not less powered. Pulling in the strap depowers the kite.

Yeah you're right, the strap connects to the top hey. I can't figure it out though, none of the bridles are broken but it just loses it's shape and smears itself on the beach - I pump it up stiff so it's not that

well it sounds like you have the right kite to be asking the question

What do you mean? Is it notoriously bad?

Are you over sheeting it and killing the power, if you are pulling too much on the back lines you can destroy the airflow over the kite and in-turn, kill the lift.

Often you will not realise your doing this as the kite can still fly forwards (though it will be slower) and the bar does not necessarily tug harder either.

try backing off the bar a bit and letting the kite pick up speed through the air, especially if you are slightly undergunned, see what happens

I think Xbow2 is a one pump kite. Pump it up, isolate all the struts. Leave it pumped up for an hour. Now when you unclip the struts. if they all let a little air in then its the leading edge. wow, for the guy who not so long ago introduced the term "rational fun seeker" to these pages you seem to be crapping yourself over a tiny problem. your rationality ain't worth much if it goes to water at the slightest leak of a kite. but keep breathing, and when you're calm enough to appreciate some rational solution seeking, read on.

it may not even be a leak in a bladder. you may have some sand stuck under the seal of the valve cap. pull the rubber washer out and look. and as bennie pointed out, if it is a pinhole leak, the resources are here to sort it. no biggy.

Yeah agree with Dojo, sand under a cabrinha valve is much more likely, and the first port of call. If you need to replace or repair a bladder, (depending on bladder size) about $100 to replace, $40 for a shop to repair. Diy job is easy but tricky. Ask your shop to show how they do it, pay them and do any subsequent repairs yourself. Kiteworld had a an article showing how in issue 35 one of your mates might have a copy or you might find a old copy at a kiteshop. My mate has my issue (i think). I'll try to get hold of it and scan the issue. Drop me a pm and i'll email if i can.

Found the leak with steve's detergent technique, there's just one tiny hole on the leading edge but it's past the second strut. It must be blowing about 25 knots where I am now, bugger!
