Anyone know if it needs to be replaced or can I repair it somehow ? It's a hairline crack around the grub screw....if I need to get it replaced any recommendations around Bunbury ? It's a Felix model firewire.

Also with my new local being a spot where I consistently ride up onto the sand is there a flexible future fin that people know of that might last a little longer ?

Cheers in advance for any assistance.

Try to see if the hairline crack opens and closes when you push the fin back and forth.

If its an epoxy sandwitch, you will have to get it looked at quick smart, as the polystyrene will start sucking water like a thirsty camel.

The box will have to be routerd out.

hey dude,

i have s surfboard with future fins, the screw hole is cracked.

due to the box being a separate piece to the board it does leak into the board, there fore won't do damage.

only get it done if you can be bother.

replacing fin boxes can be costly and time consuming..

Had a crack in one of mine, I just kept an eye on it to see if it was taking on any water....lucky that as I ripped the whole fin box out a few weeks later on a sand bar.

Why do you need to ride up on the sand?

i actually destroyed a fin box on my north kontact due to excessive height and hard landings (back rolls )

Had to get it fixed whilst in Geraldton, Bruce montgomery did an ace job however costly. your looking at least 100-150 i'd say however my fin box was seriously mashed.

Board took at least a week to dry out as it was soaking! so get it sorted asap.

spewing about missing that West Coast trip Easto- some of the lads are leaving today and the rest in a week i think. Can't believe I'm missing it !

toppleover- the shore break where I am living is super fun but every now and then the sand sucks dry in front of it, I don't have to ride up on the sand but it makes my sessions heaps more fun.

Cheers for the advice everyone else- I have spare fins so just going to chuck one in and see how it goes, I'll weigh the board before and after the session so I know if I have an issue.

Marty at Delta (margs) or Yahoo (dunsborough).
There's a guy who does repairs in Eaton too but works FIFO.
