So, despite the amazing reviews, i never really fallen in love with my core xr5. Boost machine and very stabile, amazing Wind range. But i feel it very very slow when drive It, have to go so aggressive on the bar, even with all regulation setted to move faster. I have a 10 and 13,5..
Am i the only one with this feeling?
Previous kite were bandits and i know i cant pretend the same, but i tried several other kites and noone has a so slow response time when i steer it

You've Le and wingtip adjustments, use them, fly the kite on its shortest backline settings, that way when you initiate your turn there's no lag in response, optimum pressure in the Kite give a more responsive feel
A 13.5 is never going to be quick a 10 at best will be respectable, no kites in this genre are fast in comparison to others models

Always a trade off man with any kite.

If you considered the XR was a replacement for your bandit you have not done your homework buddy. Very different kites for very different purposes even within that all round spectrum.

I've only flown a 12m XR5. Very nice kite and does a lot of things extremely well however it doesn't turn fast and isn't very responsive when initiating a turn.

So you are not on your own..

Yes the rally having a predominant and obvious delta shape would move faster.

The bandit is three struts as well, lighter and more nimble, also has more C shape in the profile, so again will move much faster.

The XR is an big jumping old school freeride kite. which can be looped if ones got enough balls.

You DO NOT want these kites to move fast if you are using it for the purpose it is designed for.

To make a comment like "it doesn't move fast compared to say a bandit", once again implies you have not done your homework, nor really understand the kites intentions.

....for example it's like riding a rebel and asking why it doesn't turn as fast as an evo? Or getting on an edge and saying, damn this thing turns soooo much slower than an Enduro.

I agree with you. The XR5 is relatively slow - though fairly typical for the style of kite. Have tried it quite a few times and it doesn't gel for me the same way my regular kites do. I have always thought that it suited heavier guys better (85kg+) but then I never rode the old C kites so I didn't start with kites with that heavy pull all the time.

Just do more airstyle! You'll be loving that slow turn in no time compared to your bandit.

Yes from 9m upwards they are Pig slow - even on their fastest setting.
Sometimes you wonder where the hell the kite is, like it's on a secret mission... other than that, it's good for its intended purpose.

Do yourself a favour and use a 60cm bar, 9m & over..

The 9m loops fast enough and will catch you every time if you have enough wind.

Don't forget you can also run the shorter lines - and youll get the turn speed back...

The Bandit on the other hand is one of fastest turning free ride / all rounder kites there is. But you trade off some easy boosting and hang time, especially at the bottom end of the wind range. You can't have it all. If you like to move your kite around aggressively then the XR is not the right kite for you. What didn't you like about the Bandits?

No the cabrinha and RRD bars have a low V split so you'll change the handling. Yes it will work but you may get slightly wierd (rubbish) handling and it won't be the same as the kite was designed to be.

I'd expect the new F-one bar (lynx?) to work and I know the North 4 line bars (2015 on) work - if you don't fancy relearning you QR muscle memory.

Have to disagree with the low v. I changed the bar on my xr5 to a low split and it didn't make a difference at all. The throw on the core bars are huge and was real uncomfortable ride.
Give the others bars a shot you might find they work fine

Hey Pusherll, I have been riding a 9m XR3 for years now and I remember my first thoughts were wtf this is slower than the 10m I was riding.
However I got over this initial feeling of disappointment in quick time as once I got used to it and flew it for what it is I absolutely loved it and still loving it 3 years down the track.
I use this kite as an all rounder ie. with surfboard too.
Build quality is also excellent.

Today i had a session with the 13,5, i enjoyed pretty much. Probably, reading your feedback helped me to understand better what i have to ask to the kite

I also have a 13.5 XR5 and whilst it is a slower kite. It does exactly what it is designed to do. I have move the rear pigtails to the fastest turning setting.

Obviously bigger but 10m has a lot more hangtime float, not as much as the Edge but faster turning - the trade off :)
The 10m XR felt like it was a slightly different shape in the wingtips.

Yeh I get the impression that there is a noticeable difference between the 9 and the 10, meaning not just one metre difference ... If you get my drift. The 9 looks appreciably faster and the 10m I flew (in average conditions mind you) felt slower than my 10m 2017 rebel.

Will suck and see myself.

If you can, use a 60cm bar and move the Y line adjuster 30cm closer to the kite compared to standard - it will turn and fly better midrange to top end..

Cheers good advice, any probs with wingtips flaring out with the reduced Y. Like you I fly my kites at their supposedly max third a lot of time.

I did try the 10m on my standard 4 line bar in 35 ish knots and it still flew ok - but the leading edge with less support would flare a bit and could be felt through the bar. Will be ok to use your lower Y bar for a quick demo and tweak it later if need be.
i just use a line stopper and a ring - on the 'NON' flag out front line...
