We've got southerlies forecast Sunday arvo in Gero as well so could be epic. Wind forecasts are seriously unreliable this time of year so will keep the froth levels down I think!

What I've discovered is that most places have an upper limit of swell size that they can handle. After than it reefs can't handle the swell it just becomes a slop fest of waves breaking km out to sea!. Still fun I guess but like riding in a super sized 5m high washing machine on rinse cycle.

None the less it will be fun. Yes please post some photo's of epic proportions.

More swell, but less wind for Gero. Still looking awesome.

Hey Dazza, can you tell me how to access that Auswave Global site? Either I am clicking on the wrong buttons or it is a user pays site.

Cheers

www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/viewer/?IDCODE=IDY00050

just click here mate and then you have to select your drop down menus and click refresh
this map I posted is the combined sea and swell which is slop and ground swell, I usually use only the primary swell for surfing and combined for kiting
also the primary swell often gets white out when it gets big for some reason and you cant see it all

this is the best interactive as you can check swell, wind direction etc all on one page by just refreshing it and then clicking the day and hour

hope that helps

Also try windyty.com, it looks incredible and has a huge amount of info hidden away in it. Try clicking on the detailed forecast and then wind and waves, wave and sea.

Or just put it full screen and watch the wind whirl around late at night.....

Had an interesting session at Horrocks this morning, wind was coming up as I launched and really onshore, hard to launch without putting the kite in the dunes, was getting lifted on the beach on the 8, so got out on the water asap on the wam.
Matt988 did the biggest flat water boost I've seen him do. Worried he would land in dunes. Over 12m on his woo. A bunch of grey nomads hooting and screaming! Huge.

Made it out to the waves. Vast amounts of water moving everywhere and a **** angle to penetrate so just mucked around surviving on the inner break. Nice and smooth.
Then after being overpowered wind dropped out and mucked back to the beach.

The arvo looked a lot better but was pretty stuffed from the morning hit so dozed watching the footy.

Winter kiting is a an adventure for sure

Yep. It sure is exciting.

I did this one jump today. Boosted off a lip. Some decent height. There was one other kiter out and he was riding up the line on a wave towards me. Just as I reach peak height this guy slots right in the pocket in front on me. Hard to explain, but it was super cool perspective of a dude riding a wave.
