I've made a few boards now but the latest is the easiest and cheapest.
I've made a how to and posted it on instructables if you are interested.
If you want to try yourself bunnings sells the wood ($44) and polyurethane glue ($12) and you can get the rest from Colin earle in Scarborough .

Can you possibly post up those images of each step and any hand drawings? Its to pixelated to read.

The board that you created works best in what conditions? How much do you weigh? Is it a lite wind monster?

How big are the fins?

Are the fins glued in with the boxes? Or are they clip/screw in jobs?

hey mate, does this technique of using the glue to hold the shape of the rocker work with TT's aswell?
Cheers

The glue holds the rocker fine, just had it out in solid 3m swell at Marge Bommie. Worked awesome

love Sophies art work! Nice touch. She must be stoked. Looks like a fun board. What did the weight come in at?

The board is pretty heavy!
Do not have a figure for it but probably twice that of my north wave board . Although I do not really jump my production board that much as I've smashed the deck with my heels too Many times, no fearing that with the ply board!!!

Looks Great, just wondering if you bothered to put any V or shape on the underside leading towards fins? or did you just leave it flat until rocker starts?
How do you find the impact in chop compared to a production board? Thanks for posting it.

Great effort my friend!

Do you think a 3mm marine ply might work? It's 1/2 lighter (and weaker tho).
However I am still bugged with "hollow", duno where the holes are?

I think thinner ply would work fine. Such as 4mm. I've been thinking of thinner top and bottom sheets but increasing the number of centre rail lamination as this would increase thickness of the board which would in turn stiffen it. The top and bottom are single sheets but the middle is just t
he rails and nose and tail blocks leaving the board hollow on the inside.

that board looks epic. the swallow tail looks fantastic, would hate to cop a rail in the shin tho.

thank you for this, it has inspired me to start another project. . . . . . . . . . . from previous experiences I will get bord halfway through and leave it half finished!

hi ff

no disrespect intended, i'm thoroughly impressed with your DIY inventiveness (and on a budget too), but i can't see for the life of me how that could possibly go well out at 3m boaties
swallow? quad? wide up front, and that length... all a bit sub-optimal to what i would expect to ride out there. i guess it depends on your riding style and if you were actually catching waves on it? i'm sure the strength was handy if you were boosting off the swells as kickers though... long drops down out there!

got any wood paddle boards you've done in other wood types etc? or other kite board shapes? i'm trying a solid balsa mini-simmons right now with help from a mate as i have no woodwork experience (yet)... might try a kiteboard one day as well.

cheers
maz
