Hi Guys, I'm planning a trip in December and wondering how these two spots compare in terms of wind, waves, spots, other activities etc. Iv kited Cape Town a few times, never been to WA. Thanks

I'm in Cape Town at the moment. It's super windy! I'm from the East Coast of Australia and have only travelled to WA once to kite. I feel that there are better-kitting spots in WA than in Cape Town.
I must say that I was a little nervous reading the reports about South Africa. Cape Town is an awesome city and I wish I had travelled with my family

Personally Cape Town is on my bucket list, looks a great area , we do lack that beach vibe scene, bars/ restaurant etc, but that what's makes us unique, you can start at safety bay then head north, hugging the coast, 4wd imho is a must if you want to get into some of the most pristine spots, I've had masses of very well travelled European wind lovers calling in at my cafe, all have been blown away by our conditions and locations, WA is on the must go map, 1300 klms north of Perth up to Exmouth,
Enjoy

No comparison , between the 2 cities. Ct is a very good kiting destination , and Perth is also a good place to kite.... both have there up side and down side. Lived, kited in both cities

I don't know the statistics and I've never been to Capetown, but surely there's less chance of your gear getting stolen in WA

South Africa for sure for a holiday! WA has beautiful breaks / beaches but lot of driving in between.

Lived in Freo for 3 years and have been to Cape town to kite a number of times. I'd say if you're natural footed and like to go big CT is pretty hard to beat. Always windy, good swell but it's bloody cold and the flat water is average or crowded. WA has the best of both worlds. You want to boost off swell, go nuts. You want good flat water that's there too. Explore the coast and you'll find heaps of awesome spots. For a purely kiting holiday i'd go WA, for an all round holiday Cape town because South Africa is bloody awesome.

More of a chance .... cause these blimy thieves know what the kite is worth here in wa, in ct they will use it as a shelter at least....

Lived in Cape Town for many years.... moved to WA and now live in NSW.

Cape Town blows too hard for Wave riding. I was often overpowered on my 6m kite after 3pm (Sand blowing in your face and its 30-40 knots). However, there are other spots in the Western Cape that are awesome and not gale force. There is a lot less driving in Cape Town / Western Cape to get to more surf / kite spots compared to WA. On the downside its very crowded in cape town and cold.

WA - I prefer the wind strength for wave riding and its a very similar direction. If you have the time, we recently did Rottnest, Geraldton area and Margaret/Augusta over 10 days. IT was pretty cool experiencing the different climates in one trip! 40 degrees to 12 degrees.

Cape town for twinnies and WA for wave riding IMO

cape town has more options and better waves than perth if your staying town bound.
south WA has great waves and wind however, and also north of Perth, but it gets remote going north.

$ wise youll be way better off in Cape Town and your $ will go way further.
