G'day, I swapped this board off a mate for a bottle of rum does anyone know these? I tried kiteing it today and had some success but learnt very fast you cant edge it like a board in the water (you skid out and get a classic sand wedgie). Aswell I think one of the wheels is wonky so if anyone can point me in the direction of a cheap replacement id really appreciate it. The dude I got it from had it sitting in his garage for ages, I think he got it to skate down the local sand dunes but gave up after eating too much sand. I've never seen a kite land board up close so any advice about whether this board is suitable for a kite would be great. Thanks.

Great times. Wear knee/ elbow pads, helmet. Cos you can axe yourself if you hit a random soft patch/ hidden log etc.

Yeah. That's fine. The wheels are small so make sure you are on the hard sand below the high tide line.

Don't worry about the wobbly wheel. It won't matter until your hitting 50+ kph.

Use even weighting in your feet. Start off with one kite size down. The more you lean back and use the kite to hold you up the more stable you become. Using sliding to scrub speed and turn. Push the back leg around rather than trying to steer with the front.

Hey thanks fellas, yea it was a gas but I could only sctub off speed by heading way up wind (using 9evo kite maybe 10 gusting 15 knots) I was too scared to head on down wind like broad reach. Aswrll was only wearing boardies and singlet so pretty cautious. What is the best wind direction? After today I'm reckoning straight onshore super low tide?

Yep bang on shore is best. Get the kite low and try some drifting. Once you sort sliding out then you can add some interesting speed!

Thanks for the advice, just down the road from me is a 20km+ stretch of beach with 4wd access so you can think what Im imagining now .

That is an MBS Pro90 kiteboard. It is the first board MBS has designed specifically for land kiting (their boards are usually designed for downhill riding).

Funny you got it for so cheap, it's a $600 board.

I'm part of the MBS Oz team and use the same board myself. It's light (bamboo deck) and agile with great pop. It's smaller than other boards so it's ideal for rotations.

Make sure you use it on beaches with very hard sand and use proper shoes always.

The key is to use a lot of front foot pressure, if you use your normal kite stance you will immediately go too far upwind and slow down to a stop. You control this board the exact same way you control a snowboard, it's all about the front foot. Also avoid leaning too far back as you would on a twin tip.

Use a small kite to begin with, you can have a lot of fun and go quite fast in winds as low as 10 knots.

Start with slow runs with the kite close to 12 so you can easily control your speed and stop by bringing your kite to 12 or to the opposite side of the window. When you get better you'll learn to control your speed and stop by directing the board hard upwind and sliding

Christian you are spot on that exactly what I was doing- controlling with the back like I was edging and then goin straight up wind, plummet I think you are still right aswell even weight is way better than all weight at rear. Since you provided the name I found spare parts for sale at the kitepower website so cheers Christian, btw holy s?#$ you are right its a 600 $ board and my mate was going to just give it to me, I gave him the rum because I felt bad just taking it.

You cant lean in and crank power or punt any type of decent jumps without straps.
