Hey peeps I'm going to Cairns for a week tomorrow and wondering if its worth bringing my kites and twinnie.
Seabreeze says it should be alright for a few days, but windfinder yorkeys knob says it will be less than 15knots the whole time.

Can anyone please help me translate these forcasts

I live here. Its rarely windy at our northern beaches until August when the onshore winds dry out. At the moment when its windy its gusty and offshore. But that can change any time soon. When there is wind its agreat place to kite.
SEEBREEZE forecasts lately are pure crap!

Hi LTF

What I can say is that totally ignore the wind graph you are looking at and scroll down to the actual Live wind forecast...

See how different it is and not in a good way either.

Best off ringing a kite shop just prior to leaving and make your decision then...

Cheers Billy

Guys, I'm up that way too in a couple of weeks. I'm bringing my 12 and 136 twinnie, but was wondering what to wear in the water for protection from stingers?

Good old article from this year on Yorkey's Knob in Cairns...

Not sure the 22kmh wind comment is right. 22knots yes, but not kmh. That's like 11knots which is light as a feather.

No need for stinger protection just bring a steel mesh suit for the crocks and sharks.

Hay KK...last time we were there it was only a 4 dayer and we didnt get to do any downwinders or head over to the wavier side ( maybe because we were all newbies then) but let me know if Ant does it this year

Hey Billy
Just got back from 8 days at Ants,
The wind is cranking, spent 3 days straight on a 6m, the lagoon is magic and yes we went to the wave beach for a change of scenery,
All round awesome experience!

P.s Keeping to the original thread,
In Cairns now, wind puffed up for half hr or so today then dropped, nothing to get excited about
