Help,
I gave up kiting ages ago and am thinking I should get back into it, hopefully tomorrow. Should I get some lessons to brush up on my skills as I dont think I can remember how to rig up? I used to ride C kites (09' fuel)and wonder if I should get something newer with more depower, (like one of those bow/hybrids) for safety.

14-20 knts tomorrow in WA what size kite should I use? I've been practicing my bog-squat in the backyard but had an accident on my board, any tricks/hints? My kite says one-pump but I have to pump it about 100 times, should I try and get a refund or does it come with an aftermarket mod?

Seriously its been SUCH a long time, Woodies tomorrow, mabe BOM will skunk us once again?

Hi Dave,

One pump system, works well. Pump the kite only once. If you pump it more than three times it will void your warranty. Close off valve, attach lines. All C kites now come with a 5th line, so if your old 09 kite doesn't come with one, you can but an after market modification, called a bridle. This is then connected to the trailing edge, to assist with relaunch. Place kite in normal position in c shape, run upwind for about 300m like the kids do to launch their triangular single line kite, and watch the kite launch off. Ensure that you wear your boardies over the top of your wetsuit, complete with a bonds tank top.

If you PM me i can send more useful hints ant tips.

Welcome back to kiting, and hope all goes well tomorrow.

People who miss the point of the post I suspect...

I feel for you. Over here in the rat race of Melbourne I have had to give up kiting too. Too many posers at St Kilda and I lost all my fitness taste testing toast and crumpets trying to work out which one was better, whilst writing kite themed Haikus, establishing whether it was ok to wear boardies over my wetsuit and if backless bindings are really bindings or footstraps....

I gave up kiting because this is the longest running spell of absolutely no wind in Perth. I've been trying, but since march all I've done is sat on the beach and watch one or two 60kg kiddies on 12-14m kites just get going.

"All C kites now come with a 5th line, so if your old 09 kite doesn't come with one, you can but an after market modification, called a bridle. This is then connected to the trailing edge, to assist with relaunch." kyteryder...

Cant wait to put my aftermarket mod on and give this a try today.

was a fizzer today
Went to leighton could barely stay upwind.
Just hope the next 2 days esp. Friday are on
Looks like the front comes in fast and passes just as quick.
Not a great wind forecast unfortunatly.

I hope i am so wrong.

No 5 pumps are not necessary. If you ring Naish, they have an octopus inflation system, which is an 8 hose adaption to the standard pump. Connect all 8 hoses at to each valv, and using one pump, they will all inflate simultaneously. - Good Luck !!

Poor, poor rellie, you would have had a better Kite SURF at Woodies, 16-20kn and the occasional cross/off roller coming in next to the groyne... Wave of the Day....Gruezi.

Hey Reli, Woodies was fun, big air and a little wave, a little twinny, then a little fish...so much fun.

You prob. just had the wrong attitude...small kite, big waves.....for me it was about big kite, sun and fun

Friday is now my bet
Friday: W/SW winds 25/33 knots. Seas to 2.5m. Swell to 5.0m to 6.0m.

with swell like that there probably will be a wave at woodies.

Ach!! I was looking for the octopus to help me pump the kite up but he wasn't included in the bag.... thanks for explaining.

And I thought it would have been 8 times quicker to pump up my Naish....hmm.

Hey lot of wind! What did your kite come with? A snake covered in aluminium?
