No need to replace, Stormsure glue is as good as any Ustick valve, as long as you do it properly. Clarke Rubber sell it.

When your glue fails you'll be totally rooted as you'll have glue on your bladder which is impossible to remove. And then get another valve to seal, contact the sail doctor and at least get some advice from a professional

I use Tarzan grip general purpose glue ,Reglued every valve on my old slingshot Octane 2 years ago and still going strong plus a few others :
fully remove old valve ,if it wont come off dip it in hot water and it will peel off easy..
rough up the bladder a bit with some fine sandpaper and on the valve I use a bench grinder buffing wheel to remove old glue.
after you sand bladder, use a alcohol wipe to make sure its clean and same on the valve. Tape the bladder to a bench book whatever so its flat and apply glue to the valve only {if you apply it to the bladder it goes all crinkly and it is hard to get it flat] ,place valve in the desired position and I then use two bits of ply [one isn't thick enough] about 10cmx10cm with a hole I use a hole saw bit bigger than the valve stem over the top and use a g clamp and clamp overnight ..use a bit of paper between the timber and the valve in case excess glue comes out the side and sticks the wood to the bladder ..Think that covers but if you have any questions give me a msg

Storm sure is fine. I prefer Aquasure (mcnetts) personally. I have 2 years so far on the last leading edge I glued up.

The key to getting a good seal is cleaning the old glue off before hand (dip in hot water and scrape) and allowing it to cure fully (at least 24hours) under pressure (either weight on top or clamped between wood templates). Its also worth cleaning both sides with alcohol wipes. Take care not to stretch the bladder material much whilst you peel the old valve off.

Don't bother trying to fix the bit that has peeled. Take the whole valve off and start again. The glue that you don't replace is only going to fail at some point so might as well sort it out now.

Replacement stick on valves make sense in isolation (maybe on a strut for example) but unless you know a reason why one valve is starting to go you might find all the valves are starting to unglue so you might as well reglue them all in one go (I gave the other valves a good wiggle when I took the leading edge out and 2 others started to peel so I decided to do all in one go).

The price for 5 new valves is getting towards the price of a bladder anyway so you don't lose anything if you can't get them unglued again in 3 years time. That said, worth buying replacement valves for a kite trip. If you're on holiday, you can't afford to waste 2 days whilst you fix the valve. 2 days of my time whilst I'm at work is another matter.

A little glue on both sides then I use a 50c from bunnings plastic plumbing reducer 40mm x 25mm, it fits over the valve and then you do 3 or 4 in a row and place timber on top then weight e.g.. A brick or two on top. Never had a valve fail and I've done a lot of kites! Good luck

I think he just needs the last say! :)

I have fixed a few cab valves just using a rectangle of 3" tear aid, cut a rectangualr hole in the middle just big enough to get the valve through, then sticking over the whole valve and back onto the bladder. Out of the 20 or so i have done like this, only one came back... i cut the small hole in the middle a bit too big i think.

Watched the sail doctor and his offsider removing glue on multiple valves and bladder on a diy glue job, basically a f.....in dogs breakfast
Even if the valves are $25 x5
your basically good as new, I'd prefer to do it once correctly,
nothing like a big deserted downwinder to see if you got it right, Ryan's the approved repairist for all the brands and outlets here in WA, pretty sure he always puts a new valve on from what I've seen

Stormsure is the only surefire permanent solution. Anything else you use will be only temporary.

Yeah, besides aquaseal...

Stormsure for sure, but if you want an instant trouble minimized repair buy a new bladder, theyre only about $100 or so.

I always used aquaseal and I know it can be trusted when applied properly. From what I know it's important that aquaseal remains flexible after curing. Someone in very old threads recommended Shoe Goo (?) or Tarzan Grip General Purpose Glue but I'm not sure if they have similar characteristics.

Forget the shoe glue. Waste of money. You can get Stormsure or Aquaseal from any dive shop. Used for repairing dive wetsuits.

Aquaseal and a piece of Tear-Aid with a hole to suit valve diameter. Spread a bit Aquaseal between valve and bladder and stick Tear-Aid over the top. Get a piece of wood with a hole to suit the valve diameter, thick enough so the valve does not stick above the top surface of the wood. Place that over while the glue is still wet with a weight over it and leave overnight.

That valve will not come off in a month of Sundays, done it many of times as my kites are 11 plus years old. I have had more failure with the aftermarket valves. If I use an aftermarket valve I stick Tear-Aid over to be sure to be sure.

FYI, I find that AquaSeal runs circles around Stormsure, but harder to get.

Just send it to Adams kite repair. Let an expert do it.

iv done many valves with stormsure but it's best to let the guys that do it every day do it!

If you glued many valves you should know that's not a rocket science and there's really no reason to pay for it. It can be done by a 10 years old.

Also, I'm living in rural TAZ and there's no way I'm gonna send my kite to glue a valve, pay for the shipment and wait at least 10 days to get it back...

I would rather spend my bucks on something else and do the basic repairs myself.

I have just replaced all the valves on a rpm. We heated each one that didn't just pull off and they came away easily. I took the info from somebody on here to use the Tarzan glue from Bunnings. "Now here is the bit I am well versed in." "Chemical bonding". Firstly wash off old glue with MEK, (epoxy thinners) this takes seconds and leaves both the valve and bladder perfectly free of all contamination. We shaped a mandrel out of foam and and also the press cover. We then followed the instructions for the use of Tarzan glue and iinstalled the valve back in place followed by rolling the entire surface with a consolidater roller. After this we put the top pressure mold on and weighted it down overnight. Here's the thing though Tarzan glue is so good it forms a chemical bond by softening both surfaces and welding them together. I reckon you probably won't need to pressure them overnight. Good luck and just do it. Haha, Just work out before hand how to put it all back together. Tip???? use a length of yellow or green tongue with a piece of string taped to it for the struts so you don't have to put a piece of string in all of them. Secondly if it's the L. Edge tie a piece of string to one end of the bladder and pull the bladder out from the other end.

And heres the chemical evidence that what is in tarzan grip is actually exactly the same chemical with different names... as shown here.. yes yes people say it doesn't stretch but the fact is for years i&others have been going several km out on tarzan grip for hours as well as other poly glues yes yes yes...we know which one

please don't get me wrong because I'm totally with you here - there must be a cheap alternative to aquaseal or stormsure somwhere but you can't possibly say tarzan grip is the same as the other two:

tarzan grip - cures in minutes is not flexible
aquaseal/stormsure - takes 8-12 hours to cure, is flexible

So it just can't be same thing even though it might be just as good in gluing valves ;) I'm just saying it not the exact alternative, however I'll try it out next time my valve leaks, it's cheap enough to risk it ;P

Stretching hasn't been a problem for me... Two foot patches.. Pops... Valves obviously. Yes ten minutes minimum.. Two years on all good
I don't think I'd do a snapped valve with it though
Or with any glue for that matter ??

All I am saying is in rural locations that's pretty much everywhere.. I always rock up to rural locations in aus NW.. Aus SW.. SA.. .. North qld wherever I just go get that. I've jumped off a boat needing some glue on a remote island or town and get that.. It's right there.i'm only really interested in kiting remote interesting adventurous places..
All good I am not knocking the credibility of a/seal or s/ sure at all..

NOOOOO.. well it depends where you live. In cold environments it "works". Up here in the tropics, it's useless. It works for about a few months and then it starts to slide off or unpeel itself. Yes.. even when done right.. yadda yadda...
