This is nuts. Kitesurfing doesn't harm the land; in fact it doesn't usually happen on land anyway.
Besides, the indigenous people claimed to be custodians of the land who didn't own but merely cared for it, so what's with this 'traditional owners' BS?

That is sad news. Kite Surfari was my first kiting holiday about 16 years ago, I did two trips back to back. I was on my own there for a day or two during the changeover. I will never forget that experience. I don't remember seeing any locals. Ant was a great host, back then there was zero infrastructure, we used sand spears to get water and he had rigged a custom copper coil that went through the camp fire for hot showers, that was about the only luxury. After camping for a week in tents, Ant mentioned there was a local croc that lived about 500m down the beach!
