Without being nasty and no offence to Griffin but I don't think you can hold much on that. Half of the PKRA riders are not in the IKA due to the heavy handed tactics used to push the PKRA to join ranks. Last I saw a couple of the brands were even threatening to pull their support for the IKA. Its a political sh$tstorm that makes the US presidential race look clean cut.

Yes griffin kites is a brand I sell .I did find the IKA site interesting > I am a bit skeptical about the olympics .Hopefully it will be handled well .I found the course racing stuff and rules interesting .This seems to be a growing part of the sport and local guys here that I have spoken to who's body's aren't really up to handle pass freestyle and find flat water a bit of a bore are really interested

Mr Float, first of all I am in no way bagging out Griffin Kites.

My comment was directed solely at IKA.

The whole thing is an absolute joke. Just some random Germans that set themselves up saying:

"Hey guys, we're the IKA, we are now your governing body" "PKRA, you guys are now not allowed to call your tour the 'world tour' or else we will SUE you and will bar any rider forever from IKA events."

I mean come on. Who throws a shoe.

They're trying to muscle out PKRA. Threatening, stealing events. The PKRA schedule was out and I had my plane fares sorted but then IKA came along with "the official world tour", backing the KPWT and stole the Tarifa event from the PKRA. Now nobody on the PKRA knows what's going on.

The IKA's original idea of joining the tours was good but they have just turned on the PKRA tour since they refused to merge with the KPWT.

Now the IKA have got big fancy law suits to anyone that questions them.

These are my own personal views. This is obviously really important to me and now because of the IKA, I don't know what to do.

p.s. Are these kites manufactured in Australia? if not then "Aussie company" really means diddly squat. Not baggin the kites here, i got no idea what hy go like.

I think you are drawing a long bow by now making the statement regarding IKA legitimacy and load of crap . it would be interesting to find out some more about all this so that we can make our conclusions based on informed discussion rather than emotive remarks.You are also drawing a long bow about how 'Aussie companies" need to make things here to be Australian. That would effect alot of 'Aussie companies " claims to being Australian for alot of different things .For example " Harvey Norman" retail is a massive 'Aussie company" ,you will find that most of the things they sell are made o/s .Mcdonalds restaurants make their food here ,does that therefore make them an Aussie company (even though they are not listed on the asx)
No you are not 'baggin ' the kites here but you might be in for a pleasant surprise if you actually tried one . You might also find that being able to talk to the owner is a good thing too .

OK .Let me explain Pleasant surprise .I tried another kite and brand yesterday .I had read quite a bit about it ,waited for an eternity and had hoped that based on what I had read it would meet those expectations .It did and exceeded them therefore a pleasant surprise .OK so maybe you don't relate . Try this analogy .Someone always thought they were a brainless lemming .They always tried to fit in with the 'crew' (you know the right brands and all that stuff ) one day when no one was looking they tried the regular sized budgie smugglers for their regular morning waterrobics class ,they were actually a nice fit .They also noticed that the new 'smugglers " left them with more of their hard earned than the last purchase had .Pleasant surprise .I hope that helps

There have been quite a few posts about it on kiteforum along with copies of letters they sent to the PKRA. Their attitude sucks.

The PKRA basically was forced to turn to the ISA (surfing) to get legitimacy because of the whole setup.

Whats the serial number of the griffin?
