Any suggestions on tuning Flysurfer sonic 15 m to reduce wingtip folding...?? I recently bought a 9,11 and a 15m, the 9 & 11 fly great with no back stalling or wing tip folding. The 15 m wingtips frequently fold, even while maintaining good bar pressure on the wing tips. I have the depower strap shortened ~3 inches to minimize too much backline pressure and back stalling. I checked for not going to mix it up and all them are equal in length. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tune the kite to minimize the wingtip folding and overall performance

I have never seen a sonic so I am only guessing.

Is it fully inflating properly? wing tip tucks are common when foils aren't inflated well.
Are the wing tip bridles on the incorrect place on the bridle? maybe faulty bridle lengths?

oops just read your question better. give yourself more back line tension. take it back to factory full power setting. slack rear lines can lead to tucking. Optimal set up should mean back stalling with bar full in. (well that's what I like best on my chrono) It allows you to back stall/pivot turn/loop for crazy tight direction changes. Get used to not having the bar full in.

Check that all knots A,B,C and Z are equal this is the best set up for the sonic (factory default) using mixer adjustment.
Check flysurfer sonic mixer app here https://www.facebook.com/flysurferkiteboarding/app_131663717029276
Hope this helps

That link didn't work :(.. Would be interested in how to tune my sonic..

I just clicked it and it worked fine. Go to the Flysurfer Facebook page click "more" and then mixer app

Pete and Plummet are spot on. The mixer test link only works on a pc. Rear line tension seems to be key. The bar manual states the rear lines need to be shortened after 10 hours or so - knots are under the bar float for this purpose. the Sonic, like the other Flysurfer foils, are highly adjustable to allow the kite to be trimmed to maintain optimal flying characteristics after years of use.

Just a note on re-launching a sonic. I had dropped the 15m into the water during a botched roll tack it was trailing edge down so pulling the front lines will re-launch easy in normal conditions, but in this instance part of the tip bridle had got trapped over the tip leading edge so as the kite came up it would repeatedly turn left back into the water, this would not correct itself, so I allowed the kite to roll left fully so it went leading edge down. Now I applied back line pressure which pulled the bridle off the leading edge and then kept pressure on until the kite reverse up 3m then let go of one side and up she went. Tip... do not pull on front lines when leading edge down as you will ram water into the kite via the inlet jets, this will mean a pack down and swim in.

You can definitely relaunch foils with water in them. Just need to hold them down wind with one tip up and the water will drain out of the other. Keeping them from moving to the edge of the window too soon and collapsing and tangling is the trick.

The sonic does seem to like being fully inflated for those tips to unfold, maybe you a have a rip somewhere. You could try shortening B and C.

Heres an authentic German explaining it all.

All lines the same length with the trim out and the bar sheeted right in. If it's back stalling the wind is too light and you're being ham-fisted - this is a flying mahcine, not a sail*. Learn to let it fly and stop choking it. And stop trying to be clever by screwing with the set up.

* a gross oversimplification
