Trying to find some inexpensive kiting gloves.

I have had Rip Curl waterski half finger gloves for 15yrs (he he - I look after my stuff) that were perfect for kiting in winter. They were really basic with Neoprene all over and chamois sorta palms.

Warmth from neoprene was good (seems most gloves i have found are made for warmer weather with mesh backs) and the basic palms were good as they weren't too bulky with padding and bollocks that I reckon would be uncomfy.

The waterski gloves I have found have all been a bit too 'steroidal' and have bulky padded palms and very bulky straps that just aren't needed for kiting. Not keen on potential to snag a line on the bulky straps/buckles on the WS gloves either.

LOL. Sorry for the extra long spiel but anybody got any tips on basic/warm half finger kiting gloves?

neoprene fishing gloves from kmart... have velcro fold back thumb and forefinger.. cheap as and mine have lasted 3 years so far

Dude, we all know the real answer to this is "Gloves ? H.T.F.U. !!!"

Having said that, try some Cressi spider gloves from your local dive shop.
The are are super comfy and are a lot more hard wearing than they look.

LOL. Have tried swapping a spoonful of cement in place of my metamucil with mixed results!

Was expecting a few HTFU comments.

What can i say covering as much as you can in winter with neoprene makes sense to me.

Good suggestions so far.

Have a KM and Whitemans marine close to home so will give em a go.

BTW the only kite glove I could find was Dakine for sailboarding I think. Surprised there aren't a few more kiting options out there?

I bought some Mystic gloves and ended up throwing them on the beach in disgust and going back out with no gloves on. I couldn't grip the bar adequately, my forearms were screaming like I was doing a rock climbing session! The neoprene changed the effective diameter of the bar and my hands just didn't agree with it.

Yeh that's why i liked my old gloves - they weren't bulky on the palm so no probs.

if you're swapping metamucil for 'rapid set" you could make some cash to buy new gloves by selling the bricks you leave in the s-bend for retaining walls

And I could use my fancy new gloves (when Ifind em) to retrieve the 'bricks' from the bend! That's thinkin (and stinkin).

but seriously im sure it would be a bit of a waste making gloves for kiting. just go check out some diving ones if you really must

Gill do top sailing gloves, i've got the 3 finger ones which are great for still handling lines/knots etc.

I Use mine for snowboarding as well..... Amazing why neoprene gloves aren't used widely in the snow, after all snow is water and gloves get wet hence cold hands...

I have a nice pair of woolly mittens for when I stop but whilst tanking round the slopes these r the ducks nuts

I would rather have breathable gloves that keep my hands dry and warm in the snow than neoprene gloves that let the water in, only for it to freeze inside the neoprene when it is -20degrees.

Ha ha - so there are some other lady-boys out there who wear gloves!

As is obvious from a quick glance at my other kiting apparel, it is function first - cool school last, so going with out gloves in winter is cool.. but stoopid for my 2c.

So anyway I found a pair virtually like I had - forgot to check Bluewater Marine in Scarbs. Mares full fingered 2mm neoprene with amara palms. Perfect. Only $25 too. Think I will just cut of half of one finger and thumb and see how I go.
