(following up on great info from www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Kitesurfing/General/8m-or-9m-to-compliment-my-12m/)

Background: I have the 12m 2008 switchblade, and want keep my eyes peeled for a 2nd hand 9m kite to complement this.

Question: What models should I be looking for that are similar to the Switchblade? (i.e. what are the other key models from other brands that equate to the switchblade). Probably looking around the $300-$600 range ideally.

If you like the switchblade why not just get another??
I find it better to have a quiver of the same type of kite.

hi jkiter - it's just how often a 2nd hand 9m switchblade would become available not far from me if you know what I mean... If I had $$ for a new one then totally agree with you.

What about an F-One Bandit Dos in an 8m? Price range would be where you're at, but the bandit will have a bit more grunt than the equivalent sb so an 8 could be good. Bit quicker also, IMO

2008 kite will be all but shagged. base your next purchase on what is best and then set a plan to replace the old ****ter down the track.

as we get towards the middle of 2013, kite shops are prob wanting to move the left over 2012 or even 2011 stock at much cheaper prices as well as x-demo kites etc. they might be a little bit more than ur price range but they will be wayyyy newer than a 2008.

I picked up a brand new 9m cabrinha drifter 2012 with bar for about $1200 at the beginning of the year. also newer kites will have better performance, build quality, safety systems, etc than older ones as kite brands get better at making each year. also if kite shops want ur business don't be afraid to haggle. there is a saying "you get what u pay for"
