2020 North Bar - donkey dick (aka "Connect Security Finger") just came off/broke while laying my lines out today

I bought the bar used (ex-demo) from a reputable kiteshop and have used it maybe 10-15 times. I've never left it sitting in the sun for long periods of time and the lines and the rest of the chicken loop assembly still looks to be in good condition - no cracks or obvious wear - so I highly doubt this is due to UV damage. Any ideas out there about what happened here? Also had this happen? Did I miss a North Kiteboarding recall on this or something?

Easy enough to order a new "Security Finger", but makes me wonder about the integrity of what otherwise seems like quite a good bar system.
