How do you stop water entering the Alloy masts.
Tryed silicon.Average results.
Nothing mentioned in the foil section.

There's a bid thread over at kiteforum. I think rubber bungs and silicon seal was the only method that worked.

While it doesn't annoy me and I'd rather be sure the water was all out.
the simple way is to first flush and clean, then get some small pieces of foam to poke down to give a 10mm thick area from top of mast to foam.
then prime with Sikaflex 210 primer then fill that area with 227 Sikaflex.

this minimises weight gain but gives enough contact area for Sikaflex to bond.
from then on it will be important to use the Tefgel as both a anti corrosion thing and seal bolt holes thing.
the third threaded hole at fuselage end may also need sealing or maybe a plastic grub screw could be an idea.

Thanks Tony ,yep agree that bogging up the holes in the mast ends could lead to more corrosion if any water or salt is left in there or gets in there.
Will take your advice and just put up with the leeks after a session.
You know what they say,
get a real problem.:

I have both Slingshot and Zeeko masts.
Slingshot masts are sealed but heavier.
Zeeko mast is noticably lighter but fill with water but not a lot for me.
I am not bothered with the small amount of water in the Zeeko mast but if you are just put some light long bits in to take up the space to reduce the water.
But not worth the effort imo.
I also have a very nice solid carbon KFA mast with absoutly no leaks.

I started learing kite foiling at the end of last summer (at 70 yrs old), did not do much during winter but have now progressed a lot this summer.
As I progressed the insignificant issues such as mast water leaks no longer matter.

Yes it is insignificant in comparison to overall foiling.
You have progressed very well.Time on the water.
Plus you have a big advantage.
BT and his wealth of knowledge and equipment.
Good on you.
two others foilers in my area with limited southerly options.
only the river if you can blank out the risk of sharks.
or the open beaches with breaking waves.
Not much fun when learning.
North to northeasters are basically it whilst still on training wheels.
Still have the river or lake Wooloweyah once I get sustained runs. Just about there.
