Yes, that footage is awesome! Love how smooth it shoots. How big is the Chrono? Seemed like you were well powered up in those conditions. Nice riding, spot looks great for some open swell carving.

It's a 9m ozone hyperlink and yes I was properly powered after it picked up mid session. Should have been on a smaller lei. Second time on a ram air kite. Thanks to Kitepower for the demo - I'm going to have to invest as a compliment to my 6, 8, 10 reos. The Hyperlink is epic for 8-12 knots on the Moses 590. So much power and so much easier to keep in the air in light winds. Thanks to Pemberton productions for filming and editing. Epic work as always.

I have recently acquired a 12 mt Hyperlink and have had a few sessions myself. I have used it in 8 to 12, but it was very lit in 12. I jump on the v5 8 Reo after that. I also wanted a 12 so I could get back to some jumping with good glide just to break up the surfboard, foil routine. And again, that footage was really nice.

I was also considering the 12m but for foiling 9m seemed to get the job done for my 85kgs. The only question I have is line length - I'd love to speed up the turning but don't want to lose that precious low end. Thinking 23m, same as my wave kite bar. All suggestions welcome.

Very nice video. I agree with foil kites for foiling in that wind range.

Tell us about your board. Looks good.

Amos shapes custom. 3'2 at about 12 liters. Can't remember the width but I could have gone a little narrower, especially in the tail, but that's being picky and it's otherwise perfect. Gripped it myself. Very impressive work from Amos as this was his first kite foil board and he nailed it. Totally stoked.

Small custom boards are the way to go. Makes such a big difference in how the foil handles. Can't imagine using a larger board again.
In my experience, you can improve low end more easily with a larger foil than longer lines.

Agreed. I've got a 633 with epic low end, but line length also key and I have virtually zero experience with ram airs hence curious for input.

I might have to rethink my line strategy. I have been flying the 12 Hyperlink with 25 meter lines. I think I could have gotten away with a 10. My goal for this kite was the 4 to 6 knot range but maybe I could get away with 17 meter lines and still make that possible at 80 kilos.
Now watching your clip again I noticed that you never swap feet in transitions. Do you go a whole session that way? I find it really fatiguing if I don't switch feet. I keep to my natural side while carving down wind though...

9m Chrono with 15 m lines is epic for foiling and lots of fun to fly. Direct steering feel.

I'm going to have to demo some line lengths - it's the only way forward. I hear great things about short lines on ram airs and the shortest I've used is 20m.

Dafish, I don't swap my feet when foiling as I don't find it necessary at all (contrast strapless surfboard riding where I do swap my feet all the time). I find foiling really easy on the body and not fatiguing at all. The foil does all the work. Use of a harness rope slider helps with that but I also think it's because I'm generally riding off the wind on my toe side while riding swell so it doesn't feel awkward like edging toeside on a surfboard. I should learn to swap feet though - especially to be able to water-start on that side.

I got some 15m lines on a chrono 15 and can def hold more power, and the jumps are nice and big and floaty ;)
def get some and it will increase the wind range you can use your kite in

I just swapped my lines to 20 mt lines as I had a spare set laying around. Will start with that, see how it feels, then judge whether I need need to make a smaller set.

Line length as it relates to underpowered waterstarts is so technique dependent that it is hard to compare between individuals. I can start in conditions now that would have been impossible for me 20 sessions ago. Also, longer is not always better. Sometimes I need 2 swings to get going. The first dive or loop to stand up and the second to move forward and achieve lift. The timing of this second dive/loop is obviously critical to success and using shorter lines is easier to get the timing right.

On a small Paipo I can get up and liftoff with just a downloop on an 8 mt Reo in 9 to 10 knots. Not sure how I will approach the 4 to 6 knot range with the Hyperlink, but I don't think a downloop start is an option :)

But the Moses 683 is a step up
