Started foiling just before Christmas, already doubled my water time. My local has 3 sandbars which means body dragging out about 100m which is a pain and also means that the water is quite choppy. After about 6 sessions I am up and going with increasing glides up on the foil. I am better when running against the flow of the chop than with it.
My biggest problem at the moment is I am ending up further and further from shore as I head upwind in onshore conditions. I then have to body drag back in down wind which can be a bit tricky in light conditions... any advice on foiling down wind or at least across and not up wind would be appreciated.
Had the same problem mate. I just started looking downwind and the board followed. I found as long as the board is flat i can rocket down wind
