Weather has been pretty crap in Perth as well. As bad a Feb/Mar as I can remember wind wise.

Had my first decent session on the foil in a couple of weeks yesterday in 15 - 18kts and my 9m. I'm still waiting on my 24 inch mast to arrive and have been persisting with the now very frustrating 15 inch mast. Managed some on water transitions - carving to toe side and also switching feet before carving to heel side. Also did my first toe side riding up on the foil which I was happy with. However, I found it hard to go upwind when toe side on the foil so I think I'll need to invest in a sliding hook set up on my harness - maybe a Dyna-bar or rope set up.

I had a stonken 30+ knot session on my mutant. Then the next day my 4m arrived..... doh now I'm suffering new kite curse and there's no wind.

+1 for a sliding hook. I ride in a seat harness and its nigh impossible to comfortably ride toe side otherwise,.

Lake Munmorah should good today for a foil. Launch at Hali. Bring a small kite.

How do you kite in the lake ?? I thought there would have been too much weed?? I am trying to learn in ocean because I thought the weed would stop the foil!!

Yes lots of weed so need to walk out a long long way then body drag for a bit. Short mast helps initially till able to get up quickly and head up wind.

There is usually somebody foiling out of Warners Bay/marmong point near the windsurfers ;)

Sadly wind 10kn or less and only had 9m kite. But got up for a few meters on 24in mast - wow seems high 35 in will be amazing.

Got my 24" mast yesterday and have had 2 short sessions on it (due to crappy wind in Perth). It's SO much better than the 15". I feel like I can foil indefinitely on this mast compared to the 15". So much more margin of error as far as ventilating the foil goes. I think I'll get a lot of use out of this mast even when I've graduated to the 90cm one.

You need to walk about 60 metres and then you have no weed or obstacles (except the odd fish)..... takes north, nor east, east, sou east from Halekulani, south from Lake Munmorah....

20km worth late yesterday arvo.



Lake Macquarie is also good in anything westerly.

Finally got good conditions and on 24in mast.
I am calling this session 6 as not counting the last near wind less a session.
Just over 2hr and more than 40% up on foil??

Good stuff. I'm loving the 24" mast as well. It's great in the shallow area I kite in much of the time.

Had it out in 22 - 30kts frontal winds yesterday with my 3.5m BRM Cloud. That was a humbling experience and the most exhausted I've felt when kiting in years. Had some good long runs on the foil despite the heavy chop but the little kite took some taming and required constant attention. I really respect Greg Drexler's abilities after that session. It's all good experience though and my next session in lighter "9m" conditions will be a walk in the park in comparison.
