I have a truck to tow my boat but it just sits there unless I am towing it to the ramp etc.
I am trying to think of a way to turn my owning of a truck into a side hustle money making venture. Straight truck hire probably no good as I want it when i want it. I was thinking maybe a bobcat or digger or something that I could hire out and drop off pick up etc after work.
Anyone have any ideas or know of needs in various markets? As a trade do you regularly hire something? How would I go with a single asset? Those sorts of hire models probably benefit from economies of scale i guess.

I had four ton of semi liquid apple pulp migrate from the back of a skip over the front of cab coming down the pass from Blayney to Bathurst.
Just took a touch of the brakes. Quite spectacular. For weeks afterwards I had this aroma of apple strudel every time the engine warmed up.

its actually an ex rural fire brigade truck (the one i have at rhe moment) so i have 1000L of water on the back already! but yeah willing to change bodies or even trucks.

worthless without the pics....do you think you could repeat this...Yutube would be impressed.

A mate does party hire with massive wood slabs perched on wine barrels. Like a bar....
The barrels can hold an icebox also. If you're handy the slabs are cheap enough just need to be planed and varnished/ oiled and the wine barrels are easy enough to fit a door into.
Its a ripper business model, just needs a big vehicle to deliver
You could make $200 every Fri and Sat night for a few mths of the year.....

Are you an overweight thug with good intimidation skills? No not suggesting you become a union organiser but you could try putting a hook on the back and when the weather is crap hang around busy intersections at peak hour.

They are supposed to take photos of the car before and after I think and supposedly are liable for the damage. I think these car sharing systems work well in high density areas where there is high demand for cars.

If people drive it like a rental car...

Are they even insured? Its now a commercial vehicle....lotsa folks getting stung being Uber or similar and having a prang....

There's a late model Mercedes located just around the corner from my place. Seriously, let someone fang around in your new Merc for 33c/km?? Nuts!

We had my wife's Commodore Station Wagon on Car Next Door for about a year...

Ended up replacing all the tires twice (people run into all sorts of things) and had to fix two dings in various panels.

Add to that the wear and tear on internal parts (thinking all the buttons on the steering wheel and automatic windows) not to mention they drive it like they stole it.

On top of that people carrying stupid stuff in it...

So from our perspective it wasn't worth it. So now the car sits in the street and waits for when she goes surfing midweek.

Did we make money on this? Not once you deal with all the repairs...

And we are considered "Inner City" being only 4km from the GPO...

im in the same situation with a 7tonne crane truck.how to make a quick buck and still have my own time.. i like the slab and barrel idea. as Ive got a stack of slabs that would suit
