I have had both and can tell you they are both great if you haven't watched a tv for the past 15 years

Both stream well ( Netflix a touch better than Stan ) for me anyhow.
Both have lots of tv shows ( Old crappy ones )
Both have lots of movies ( old crappy ones )
Both have 30 day free trial ( just as well )

If you want to watch something you have seen before Both are great.

This is just My opinion and I am sure some people love being able to watch Rambo , Ferris Buellers day off or Priscella queer in the desert.

Thank god for seabreeze and youtube.

Stan is useless to me because it's not just there on my PS3 or WDTV Live stream box. Netflix appeared on both and just works.

Started with house of cards s3 and now there's 83 eps of Mad Men @ 1 per night average and there will be s3 Orange is the new black out soon, then there's marco polo to try - I can't see us running out but we don't watch hours & hours every night.

Netflix did say they intended to add to the catalog continually, check back, it might equal US at some point.

Yawn. Life's to short for all that TV.

Thankfully the Brady Bunch has been repeated ad nauseam on 11 for a couple of years, and pretty much know every episodes story lines off by heart now. Love the episodes with Oliver, and the singing episodes. I have got to the point where I know what will unfold from the first 3 minutes of the show.

I'm missing Lost in Space and the Partridge Family

does Stan show them?

I hear Pesto is the best for content range, then stan, then lastly Netflix.

Presto only worked properly on my phones. They have major issues with streaming to a normal computer. If you Google it there are endless complaints from people about the service just not working.

Netflix works very well. I use a Chromecast dongle to 'cast' it from my Samsung tablet to my (non-smart) TV. The streaming in HD is very good and they seem to be adding TV shows, documentaries and movies regularly (they Email you).

Did not bother looking at Stan and Presto as I thought Netflix would be the dominate player - PLUS it does not come off your iiNet quota.

Might have been to do with my iinet though which has been very poor since netflix backhaul upgrade supposedly complete last week but no improvement

ps Pesto is a Murdoch enterprise, might as well just pay for foxtel now if you want to pay him..

We use Netflix via our Apple TV, streams almost instantly with no buffering much better than iTunes via the Apple TV which can take time to start and buffer. We have a crap Internet speed as we are at the edge of the network coverage.

G'day. I am on iiNet and get between 5Mbs and 9Mbs... but have definitely noticed a performance drop since the streaming services have started.

I cast from a Samsung 8" tablet to a Chomecast connected via a HDMI splitter (I have to piggy back my PVR and Chromecast off the 1x HDMI slot). My TV is a 8yr old 55" Hitachi Plasma @ 1366x756 res (or thereabouts) not true/full HD and Netflix HD looks very good (and I am quite critical). The only single time it went slightly blocky is when my son was downloading something at the same time - and it resolved itself quickly.

PS - although old, my TV was top of the range in it's day and has a very good scaling & colour chip set. Although it is not true/full HD the picture quality is so good I cannot justify the coin to upgrade to a new Smart TV. The Chromecast dongle just extended it's life.

Sense 8 is worth watching if you have netflix. Made by the creators of the matrix... And it's about the quality of the original Matrix or V for Vendetta, much better than sequals or some of the other trash they've directed

Did the 1 month free trial on Netflix. It was just about long enough to watch everything they had that interested me.

Guess I'll do the free trial on Stan next holidays.

Buying a chromecast was one of the best things I've bought IMO, as soon as we had the nbn hooked up i went and bought a samsung TAB S and a chromecast. Its brilliant, streaming is great. I watch my motogp, and youtube is advertising free when streaming through the chromecast. I love watching HD vimeo through it, there really is some quality on vimeo.

Explains a bit. My last GOT was a bit corrupted. Ettv or pirate bay then. They can't do much if u use an android device (I hope). U torrent straight to phone. Plenty of content on tap whenever I'm on a plane or waiting. So good. Just need shows that u can resist watching until yr bored (ie not got or house of cards etc). My go to shows are south park, deadliest catch, big bang, etc

Im thinking about Stan. Anybody tried it?

I've been using Netflix lately. Streams fine in HD on two devices at once. And our internet is nothing special.
The only problem is, to get all the shows I like, I would need to subscribe to all 3 services. Which is a bummer, but I'm hanging onto hope that it gets sorted out someway.

My DVD collection, I can watch at any time

^^^ Yeah - I hear ya... but there's something nice about scrolling through a menu of umpteen dozen movies, documentaries and TV shows and seeing the summary info etc and just tapping the screen...

PS - I have a fairly big DVD/Blu-Ray collection - some of which have not been opened, so I am still a bit old-school and still like to have a shelf full of movies.

We got dozens of channels here, all loaded with nothing worst watching and endless freakin ads. NZ TV has been little better the few times I've seen it.

No broadcasting fees in Oz then?

Of all the above I understood; TV, DVD, SBS, channel. Im not even 40, need the kids to get older so they can teach me stuff maybe

In the meantime I'll wait for the library to get game of thrones season 3...

at the moment we get free tv. the main channels are ABC 2 , SBS 28 7,9,10 the last three 7, 9,10 are crap commercial channels

abc is government money and sbs is heavily gov subsidized . both have good content.

there are other channels probably about 30 or so but its all rubbish ads and crap........

If there are ads, it's not free.

Just watched a movie thriller called "Frozen" on Netflix last night. (Not the sickening Disney animation) It was about 3 young people who found themselves stuck on a chair lift overnight at a ski resort. (Yep, they shouldn't have snuck on for 'one more run' after the queue was closed.)

Anyway, it was a 'B' grade, low budget sort of film, and not a real lot happened.....most of the film was just the 3 of them swinging in the chair lift working out how they were going to get down before freezing to death. But damn, it was terrifying to watch. Faced with the choice of sitting there for a week (they got stuck Sunday night at a weekend only resort), or taking extreme measures to get down, all sorts of gruesome stuff happens over the next 2 days. It was just so 'raw', I was cowering, and covering my eyes, but couldn't stop myself from watching. I've only just recovered 24 hours later.

Dare you to watch it.

Have Netflix on Apple TV and barely use it, Hulu & HBO all the way for me...And Hulu is about to launch Showtime as well. I'm good without Netflix.
