Heading to Fiji next week and the digital camera has died, wife wants a Olympus TG4 or similair traditional point and shoot, but i got thinking about another gopro, (I already have a hero 3), but i notice the new hero 4 has a screen on the back and I've done a few you tube sessions watching all the ins and outs of it and I reckon it will do just as good of job as the more traditional point and shoot cameras.

Am I missing anything here that the gopro cant do that the traditional ones can

Thanks

I bought an 8 mp waterproof special from Aldi for $60.

Works a treat. Check out the pics and vids I took with it in this thread.

Wide angle lens doesn't bother you? How accessible are all the settings like WB on the newer GoPro? Stiff as buttons?

Have a waterproof point n' shoot from . . . someone . . . and it's been handy on holidays etc with the boy in the pool or at the beach.

use the hero 3 jesus why on earth would you buy a 4 if you had a 3 ?!? for the screen is not a good reason to drop another what is it now 20? hours working a piece **** job for.

so the only plausible answer to this question is let the misses choose the one she wants. how are you still married?

Waterproof point and shoot. Will take far better pictures than the GoPro

both got their good points.

I use the go pro3 for diving over 10m and POV stuff on the motorbikes and Supn. The Go pro is great for time lapse stuff which is a bonus and with attachments can be hung anywhere. I set mine up on a time lapse around the pool in Fiji last year with a photo every minute at the house we rent on Taveuni. Great for sunsets and sunrises etc.
Currently bricking a tank in PNG and am doing time lapse of the bricks coming up and scaffolder's etc.Pretty cool so far.
I still use the Olympus for swimming/pool and general everyday stuff as well as work stuff.
Just keep ya Go pro 3 and buy a TG my my thoughts.

bought another gopro - got some ripper shots on it, I'm happy, she was too, but still wants a "normal" camera so before Bali in April I will grab her a Olympus TG.
