Hi all, I'm a newbie!! I'm based in Melbourne but considering an old 1970 S&S 34 yacht in Bundaberg. I was thinking of paying a local surveyor to do a preliminary "pre screening" so to speak, before jumping on a plane to have a look. As with most things, they can look OK in the photos, not so good in the flesh. Does anyone know of someone reputable? Cheers James

No I am not selling it!!

This is the English built one that the girl is selling by the sounds of it.

If you like I can go and have a look at it, take some photos of problem areas and give you my opinion on it. It will cost you a carton of Stellas.

The only surveyor I trust near this neck of the woods is Drew Sayer, He would have to travel some 150 klms to inspect it and his service will cost you about $500 but he is good. He is a shipwright as well as a surveyor.

I can do the prelim and he could do the insurance/purchase survey.

This would have to be the boat, yes???

These English built boats are very strong.

If you want to go further send me a private message via the forum with phone number and email address.

It has been for sale for a while so you might be able to screw a good deal here.

As for getting it to Melbourne, I recommend trucking it.

Cheers.
