My elastic sided Redback boots would make my socks slip off. The only socks that would stay on were super thin tight fitting socks. I might as well have had no socks at all.

We had a plumber doing repairs at the house the other day and he kicked off his elastic sided Blunnies in the hours. His socks were also flapping off the end of his feet.

Is this sock sucking behaviour a characteristic of elastic sided boots? I've never had the problem with lace ups. I need some new boots and elastic sided are more convenient but I don't want my socks sucked unless I get a happy ending.

Doctor said elastic sides are bad for your back. Maybe it's true. Zip sides are common now. And Hike brand socks from Target have been serving me so very well that they're the last 30 pairs I've bought, not the red ones, they're ****, the orange one's are good.

Hard Yakka socks from Bunnings are good, plus milk socks.
Mongrel side zip boots are the best boots I have ever had.

Holeproof explorer originals with my slip on boots. Only start to slip down when the socks get really old and should already have been binned

elastic sided boots are supposed to have poor ankle support compared to laced and/or zipped boots, the mine sites I worked on wouldn't let us use them at all.

While we are talking about boots - my last 4 pairs of steel blues were ruddy hopeless, the soles either came adrift, or the foam inside the heels collapsed.

My Martens have finally died after 4 years solid farm use. Never sucked sox . I bought these for $4 half dead from vinnies. Going to try the expensive proper work boot ones if they're still made in England? All the regular work boots don't seem to last very long .Bootguards work well for small debree and sticky beaks until the elastic goes.

I've got Rossi with side zips at the moment. I've never had a pair of steel caps that came close to how good these feel. They're more comfortable than my sneakers. (And the socks don't budge.)

Really simple and comfy fix is to wear 1 pair of thin socks under your normal pair (explorer or the like). Works every time.

Or for people who have to go to work real fast.
God-send for some

Dunno how anyone wears the side elastic things they flop too much, I agree they'd have to be bad for your back

after years of bad boots I bought a pair of rewings without steel caps is in 1995. they are still my most comfy. I would turn up to the mine office in regular boots and then change into the redwings when i got in the field. but at $350 in 1995 I don't think i could justify another pair when they finally die. meanwhile I've seemed to keep buying $55 kmart elastic sides and replace when they get manky. when the tread goes thats throw away time. tried a target pair called pilbaras but they were a crap fit and threw away after 2 weeks
