The influx of Indian workers will fix some of our skills shortages that we already have and will only get worse once Vax mandates cut Australians from the workforce.

This will boost productivity, increase tax collected and political point scoring through more wasteful spending and irrelevant gloats

I agree with you on this.

I was listening to a woman complaining about increasing rents and how it never used to be like this. I then pointed out that one of the major parties had an approach to this that was meant to stop the runaway house prices and therefore rent prices.

Her response was 'no, I don't like either of those parties and vote for the one I believe in'. I don't think she realised that her vote effectively is lost as she may end up counting for the party that has similar ideas or the other one. Neither one will see her vote as that important and as she is not directly choosing the one that matches close enough to what she wants, she may effectively end up voting for a party that has the opposite policies.

I think you are pushing me up onto my hobby horse on this topic.

The skilled migration list and the immigration figures that result are very different to what you think we need.

We had a huge intake of 'recruitment consultants' in at least one year. My guess is from the UK. Who would have thought that we needed a new load of people to actively choose people, and not a load of people to actually do the work?

I wouldn't mind the new push for huge migration levels if they actually added new positions to the workforce, but I suspect that in a lot of cases they are just displacing existing positions.

The suggestion in the media says that we need fruit pickers, cafe staff, waiters, and other 'generic' workers. Instead, we will get a huge influx of accountants, computer programmers, and project managers. I guess it means that the new cafe staff can be the ones that get displaced by these new people coming in.

The point of preferential voting is that you get to choose the best of a bad bunch. But only if you pick your own ones. Not if you take the party line blindly. Doesn't really help of you don't like any if them.

Just another IPA call to exploit foreigners now that the true working conditions have been exposed & now have to pay real wages to attract Labour .

The year that my Wife and I migrated from the UK - the skills shortage list included motorcycle mechanics and hairdressers. Unfortunately we were neither, but managed to find another option.

I realise this but still will not vote for them. The system really is stuffed . Dog or Cat poo as a choice of dinner is not a real choice

My bet is we will see a huge increase in Tumeric sales
