I had assumed that it was because there planning laws might be a little more simple, but the programs I have seen seem to be in Texas, so its not inconceivable that they use non-legit labour, or even that labour is cheaper because of there being so many other illegal immigrant labourers in the area.
I wonder if they get the same in the northern states where its less likely to get illegal immigrants.
One of my sister's friends bought a house in Sydney and relocated it down near Nowra, before this housing boom. He made good money on it and I think partly because he got the block of land before the boom pushed prices up.
I looked at something similar, but I am not sure if this sort of exercise in Sydney is cheap or easy. It seems that you have to remove any asbestos before moving them anyway, so I think that would be an expensive job. A lot of houses in Sydney are made from Fibro with asbestos, so its probably difficult.
