That's an interesting point to consider. I guess that in the past, people who were curious and inventive and wanted 'stuff' enough to go about working out how to make and produce it survived, while that those that didn't have the propensity to produce and stockpile for lean times didn't. If it's that ingrained into us as a species, does that mean we're kind of screwed?

I don't think it does mean we are screwed, but it may take some work. While I agree that evolution has pushed for a more aggressive species, it doesn't need to be that way. I don't think it will change either as attracting a mate relies to a certain extent on these same behaviors. Similar to what you have said, the (excessively) meek may have died out due to lack of competitiveness.

I was pondering this the other day as sometimes my first response to some things is aggression. The Japanese seem to have this sorted, to an extent. Coach people into being overwhelming polite and courteous, even when it could be clear that you are right and the other person is wrong. It can go a long way to toning things down and making people get along much better in high density situations. Sure, people lose some freedoms, but they gain more tolerance and it seems to work.

Yup, like it or not.... different world different economy now. Seems making money is more based on moon cycles, microdosing on magic mushrooms and picking the next social media trend, rather than blood sweat and tears.

Not saying that this is a good thing, but it's the crazy reality. Blockchain/Bitcoin is going to change all our lives.

Lucky for some... not for others. We are in early days of this paradigm shift.

Ps to add. this may all change if we eventually directly interface with AI using some sort of brain implant. Then private property ownership rights through enforceable government protected licenses will become part of the real "productive " economy..

The problem I could see
is that now we extent Intellectual Property Rights
to common human knowledge database. Access to knowledge., education is already restricted by high college fees and restrictions.
Most of education even on highest level could be achieved completely for free , using internet and specifically designed programs and tests.
But governments will never allow, afraid of loosing control and source of income. Now something like common human knowledge is classified as Intellectual Property ownership and licenses granted. But for a thousand of years those knowledge is passed from generation to generation to build our human civilization as we know it. Metaverse could change the education system - if properly designed courses could provide complete education for masses.to illustrate:
things like swiping your finger on the phone screen is now patented and licensed. Any progress that humanity do right now, instead of become instantly imprinted into Wikipedia ,
for everybody available for free,
is now split into thousand of patents.
Legal fee, registration fees , licenses drawn on every small item, that naturally is developed in human evolution.Now the latest trademarking of almost every object and selling is the greatest violation of freedom to know, freedom to learn
