YouTube and diy; shouldn't be more than $50, a slab of premium and a bottle of spirits. Don't get a tradie, especially in WA as they find the job too fiddly and will charge you a days wage whilst working on someone else's job, lose a few fingers and then not get paid for 70 days. Others will think you're getting ripped off, especially when we discover you cleaned up after the lost finger incident and we will all think your property manager/real estate agent is a drongo not worth the salt bush from your front yard.

But we will all wish you good winds.

Just did 5 rooms plus the crapper, and a ceiling... never plastered before I started all that! although I had a builder kind of tell me what to do. I don't know what render means but surely it's as easy as all the other stuff.

Isn't 'render' what happens when you wait for a movie to download

Just finished re-doing the patio ceiling as the muppet who did the corner joins said he was going to use "special flexible filler". Yep. No more gaps

Asked three blokes to look at it. No one was interested. One bloke whose ad said "no job too small" said he didn't do ceilings.

Yeah - after letting my wife loose on the power tools during a reno I found myself having to learn how to render, plaster and tile. Sure it took me three times as long as a tradie, but it cost me less than 1/4 the cost and I learnt a new skill. Getting the finished plaster perfectly flush is the hardest bit - suggest you get hold of one of those 300w tradesmen flood lights that shows every bump in the wall and take it slow and use a good straight edge spirit level or similar as a reference...

No doubt one of the guys in Bunnings will give you some advice on the mix etc. Else Google/YouTube it...

Do you have Gib in Oz? Their plaster comes premixed in various sized buckets....

$30 per m2, but would you load your gear , go the hardware ,drive to the job, clean gear , drive home and unload for that, I don't, also youd have 2 visits as the scratch coat need a couple of days to cure, also setting time to polish up the hardwall, imho youll find a day rate more realistic

yo buster i got some putty filler from bunnings the stuff you can sand and scraped it on. bit rugged but come out ok when sanded ( only did a piece 500mm x 500mm

Ok, some fair dinkum advice on render products.(yes I can be serious at times and its raining here and the beach is closed)

RSA products are pre mixed render for various situation's, they replace the old style 10mm thick sand and cement mix.
CTS products are super fast setting, great for patch work, more for specialised use. (cost about 3 times as much)
