There’s a staggering number of Australians being in having their computers infected at the moment, up to 20,000, uh, can regularly be getting infected by these spams, or scams, that come through, the portal.

*sigh*

I though AQIS went to all the ships and sprayed them so no viruses could come through the portals?

Wow! This guy sounds soo knowledgeable. He even used a technical sounding word!
He should be in parliament making laws on all sorts of important things, like Telstra and the future of broadband and internet filtering.
Where does such great talent come from I wonder?

The only infected spammer is Steven "Con"roy, that f'ing idiot should be put in a cell with a mirror.

I don't have an anti-virus, anti-spyware or firewall, never been infected with anything.

Steven bet back under your rock.

Clearly not fit in the slightest to be Minister for Communication.

(ALL data between you and a bank is encryted. Always)

As I understand it Google were collecting information on wi-fi networks to aid in location. For example your phone cannot pick up GPS for whatever reason, but by analysing the wi-fi networks it can pick up, and then comparing those against its database of wi-fi networks, Google could give you a good approximation of where you were.

I think I read recently that one guy responsible for a large amount of the spam the world was receiving was actually based in Australia. Is the filter going to stop that?

I think he was using servers based overseas for that. So IF the filter were going to do anything useful then the answer to your question is "yes, probably". But please note the big IF.

evlPanda: Google was collecting wifi hotspot data... so you could ask google where the nearest wifi hotspot was like at a Macas. So imagine you drove around all day a logged every wifi network your PC/iFone could see. If the network was unsecured, like a free wifi hotspot! it would try and connect.

No f'ing data snooping... now google knows we have a tard for a "communication Minister"

And people wonder why we get spoken to slowly abroad .

If the ass wipes in power want to filter something, why don't they start with the water!
