I need some help with this situation I'm in. On February 24 2017 I was charged for a drink-driving offence. I'm a green P plater who blew 0.045. Charged only for having alcohol in my system as a P plater. Was fined, licence cancelled, and disqualified for 3 months starting from March 23 2017.

Police have told me it's not serious enough to go to court for. I'm supposed to come off my Ps and go full licence a week and two days after my disqualification is up. July 1 2017. Will my Ps extend?

Apparently my punishment purely relies on the following:

* What your BAC level is at time of offence.
* Whether it's your first offence or not.
* What your history is like with the law.
* What your previous driving history is like.
* When your fine is paid.
* How much time is left on your Ps.

I have spoken to other P platers in this situation, and they believe I'll be offered a 12 months good-behaviour bond as it's minor and my first offence. That's what happened to them anyway. Is this true?

My situation:

* Not serious enough to go to court.
* First offence.
* Clean driving history apart from this offence.
* No criminal history.
* No previous run-ins with the law.
* Fine was paid the day I got it.

* BAC was 0.045. Was below a full licence holder's BAC limit. (Yes. I know I need to be 0.000. Not like I blew 3 times over 0.05).

I believe if I blew 0.05 or above, then I probably would have to go to court. VicRoads can't give me any definite answers as no information has been forwarded to them yet from the Police. They also can't keep their stories straight. One VicRoads employee tells me if I incur 5 or more points for the offence I will be offered two options.

Option 1: Another 3 months disqualification, and extension of my Ps for another 3 years (Re-do green Ps).
Option 2: Go on a 12 months good-behaviour bond without extension of my Ps. But any offence will cancel my licence instantly.

Where another employee has said regardless my Ps will extend for 3 years. But she sounded hesitant as she tried to explain it.

Does anyone have any opinions on this situation?

I suspect at least a 3month extension to make up for the 3 months missed...

Seems you will also need an interlock device fitted for at least 6 months.... Your going to love that

The OP of this other thread was also told that the fine and suspension will stand, that an interlock device may be required and that they are a bloody fool for drink driving whilst on their P's, maybe they didn't like those answers and decided to come here for a more supportive audience?

Drink & Drive - You're a Bloody Idiot! Who cares whether you have done your licence? You are a P plater, your BAC limit is ZERO, .045 is way over your permitted limit, you knew that but you chose to drink alcohol and get behind the wheel, you got caught, you pay the penalty.

Cop it on the chin, take a good hard look at yourself and decide what kind of person you want to be

Don't make excuses, don't look of loop holes, you've done there wrong thing, maybe you made a blue

Man up, do your time, learn your lesson and get on with it

What were the P plates attached to when you were busted?

short-board? / longboard? / SUP?
windsurfing rig?
kite surfing rig?
landyacht?
sailboat?

or are they bolted to a university students desk?

Cop it on the chin and never drink drive.
It could have been much worse.
Imagine if you ran into a Mercedes and would be paying that off for many years ahead.
Or worse killed somebody and would be spendinmg some jail time.
