Have anybody any experience with under tile floor heating, electric?
I am just building new house on my lifestyle farm off the grid.
I think that beside traditional Air Con and fireplace, this floor heating make much sense .
Having sufficient solar electric power, running those doesn't costs me a penny.

But I still don't know how much power and surface area is required for 290m2 home. Since the house is weekender I imagine how nice it could be arrive and have already cozy warm inside, during winter,Beside electric there is also hydronic version, but I think the purely electric will be more suitable and possibly cheaper to install.

A new house build I was working on years ago in North Sydney was installing Geothermal heating/cooling, seemed to work quite well by all accounts.

I use to install the electric stuff in Perth about 20 years ago, was very efficient especially under tiles. It was a real pain to fix if you had a break in one of the wires though,, pulling up expensive marble tiles in the McMansions was a bit stressful. The mob I worked for was called Speedheat, bit of a franchise operation, I think they still operate over Eastern states.

You looking for an architect ? I think there was one around here somewhere, not sure where it has gone though.

Although if you need any columns designed it might be best to get a engineer to do that.


But ...didn't somebody establish that you must have rocks in your head if you build a new house in 2022 ?

Would it be easier to just get a complete kit-home from your mate Elon and invest the savings in bitcoin ?

Other than that, the Romans might be able to help out with the underfloor heating.

Check out heat pumps, have the benefit of cooling in summer as well.

If you're going that way look at CO2 Heat Pumps as they are very efficient and work down to low ambients.
Also the slab is best with edge and under insulation as well as having the heating added as a screed to the structural slab. Bit more work but worth the effort I did my place this way but with Gas Hydronics, its efficient, clean (doesn't Ionise and capture dust) and can be easily scheduled for intermittent use. Looking at CO2 HP's when the gas unit dies or becomes too expensive to run.

just throw down some electric blankets and cover with floor rugs, ghetto style
